I just bought a nice low mileage Cyclone but it didn't come with any kind of a operator manual. Can someone give me a little info? tire pressure? suspension settings (about 175 lbs with all riding gear)? I will need to find a operators manual, I know I can buy a service manual but I feel that I don't have enough info to safely ride the thing right now. Any info is greatly appreciated!!!

Well, first off, if you are 175 with all your gear, you are right about within the margins of how the set the bike up from teh factory(whether that has changed, I dont know)..

Pressures...

32 front, 36 rear, right outta the service manual. Yeah, thats for the X1, but the tires and rims are the same.

I dont use the Buell specs when settign up suspension..

I do 2 things.. First, is static ride ride (you need friends to help for this)

I ususally set mine for around 33-35mm

When you set it, you need one person to balance, and another to measure on vertical axis to a fixed point, both with on the bike(feet on pegs, adn hands on the bars, with your gear on)..and do it again off the bike, to achieve the deserid sag..

Its gonna depened on your riding habits, whether you just want a comfortable ride, or if you ride aggressive.

I would say, if you want a semi more comfortable ride, set it up for about 27-29mm of sag..

Being a Cyclone, your suspension is differenet than mine(well the rfont forkss are)

I there is another method to setting up the Buell suspension..BUT, this is how I always set my bikes up, and I have been happy..

And the damping adn rebound are totally up to you..(i have another way of doing this..)

Congratulations - great bike! I may be a bit biased, though...

The owner's manual states 32f/36r solo, 36f/38r loaded. Check the engine oil when hot, bike straight up (not on stand).

Forget the operater's manual, there is nothing of great significance in it that isn't in the service manual... except for the repetitive warning that almost anything you do may cause severe injury and/or death.

Thanks for the info... I checked on Ebay and see a service manual is available so I will be getting one soon. I am surprised there is not much available in the operators manual. I will put some air in the tires tomorrow and give it a test ride. I also need to replace the oil, is the drain plug the one right above the stock muffler (muffler has a little depression there)? Hate to ask such a stupid question but I don't really want to be pulling plugs from things I am not sure of. It's not that I am stupid, but I am totally ignorant when it comes to the Buell/Harley bikes. Once I get all the service manuals I will feel much better.

The drain plug you see above the muffler depression is for the transmission. The engine oil has a hose with a plug in it that is held onto the frame, near the side stand. Your engine and transmission oil drain the same way as on a pre-2004 Sportster. If you have a friend who services his/her own Sportster they can show you. Also, you may be able to find a lot of information at www.sportster.org that will help you to learn a little more about the basic engine and transmission.

Yeah, make sure your engine is warmed up before swapping oil too or you WILL over fill due to oil draining down to the crank case. Use the big filter and the new synth from HD (if you're gonna ride in the heat) it's supposed to be good for 5,000 miles. Any synth is good though for reducing engine temps.

Go to the knowledge vault and read the new or prospective Bueller thread if you have not already. The KV is a great resource.
