I finally have just about all the parts I need to get my X1 back on the road. All except for my heads. Once I get those, I can start putting her back together. After talking to the guy (local indy shop) it looks like it will be another week.

I was wondering what would be the easiest/best way to reassemble things. She is literally in pieces. Would it be easier to wait on the motor and start with getting the motor in the frame? Or would it be easier to get her into a rolling chassis form and install the motor when I get my heads back?

I've been itching to work on her, but I don't want to make things more difficult if I can help it.

Ron...

I'm STILL putting together the pieces from my S1W. I swear it was easier the first time (S3T motor into an S1W frame).

The first time I built the rolling chassis and then installed the motor with the swingarm attached.

The second time I put the swingarm in the frame and then the motor into the frame. After that, I installed the forks, wiring, etc, etc, etc.

Based on those two experiences, I'd do the following...

Install all the wiring.
Install the swingarm.
Lower the frame onto the motor.
Attach motor to swingarm.
Attach motor to frame.
Install front forks.
Install oil tank & attach lines.
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

With any luck, I'll have mine done sometime this weekend. All the "major stuff" I have left is to run the throttle cables, install brakes & adjust clutch cable.
