Talked to Buell people and the 1989 RS1200 tool pouch is no longer available. Story is that the wife of one of the employees sewed them up.
Can someone help me to buy one, or get a copy made from an original?

89, That is sorta correct info. Not sure it was exactly that but pretty close to that. The tools only came on a few of the last bikes made.

If someone has one any good seamtress could copy it. They are hand made.

If you can send me a couple detailed photos and your VIN, I have a couple ideas.

To wit:
  • you'd be amazed as what is in stock
  • Might find the "wife" who made them and get a supply of OEM remakes
  • Might find another wife and do another run

Court the original wife probably won't work. They are very simple to make.

They seldom do.

I can dream.

Let me get this right? . . you think I should sew it?

You know better.

Alright, I happen to have one of the pesky things sitting on my desk. Which by the way is fully stocked with the original tools.

Some time and patience was spent on the creation of it. Knowing it was put together inside out. I can not find the spot that was used to make it right and hide the stitching.

Interesting to be, here in the modern age, in a discussion between 6 people who have owned and ridden RS/RSS's.

It would really be fun, if I can get the detailed photos and an inventory of the tools (perhaps even their make) to recreate a half dozen of these kits.

Most cool !

Hello All:
I bought the tool kit via Kim @ Buell. The tool kit arrived in a zip lock baggy. Called Kim about the pouch & she told me the story about a wife making it.
I have the tools in the photo except for what looks like a socket in the upper right. In it's place I have a ring of Allen wrenches.

My 1989 RS1200 is is #4.
Would still like to get the proper pouch.

Loki. What is that material anyway?

89,

Back home we referred to it as duck cloth. The kind of stuff you would have your hunting clothes made out of. I would put it on the level of the old Air Force winter weight BDUs.

Rich,

Why thank you. I remember crossing paths at Orlando Buell in late '00. Still need to get the front painted and color matched. Hoping the original front can be repaired and put back on.

One can not really appreciate the RS/RSS until you start tearing into one.

Would any one be willing to make some pouches using their original as a pattern?
I can sew, but don't have an original around to copy from. Of course I would pay for the copy.

The 36mm wrench is PN: C2013.7QQ. This is a 1992 RS/RSS1200 part number. May still be available. The tool kit was about $48.00, PN: C2016.7QQ.
Personally I use two cheap 12" Cresent wrenches for the rear axle.

The pouches are not available, but I have produced copies for $15.00 which includes shipping.
