Hey,

I bought a (almost new) BUB Bad Dog exhaust, 2 into 2, pipes for my 97 S1, over a year ago. I had a VH carbon fiber pipe on, which I liked, until a weld broke and snapped my header. Still pissed about that.

Anyway, I ended up buying a White Lightning 2 1/2" header and a Supertrapp, before the BUB arrived, and have never tried the BUB out.

Now, I'm toying with selling the BUB, and thought I'd see if anyone has any experience with the BUB pipes ... and should I, maybe, just keep it?

I could try the BUB out, but if I plan to sell it, I'd hate to drop one, or screw it up putting it on or taking it off ...

I don't think the, overall, acceptance of the BUB for Buell is that great ... fill me in, if you know.

Thanks.

- Bud

Nice an loud gives you that "H-D" sound, look awesome.
BUT...

You do loose horsepower.

I can not say how much but there is a loss.

Just went on Bub's website...they don't even list Buell. They must not have even accepted their own....I was hoping to get a look at what a 2 into 2 looked like on a Buell...

With my BUBs, I lost power, the unique Buell sound and then the front header cracked 3 inches from the cylinder within about two months of installing. History!

The X1 files said that the BUB pipes are of low quality.

I was hoping to hear from more that have personal experience ...

Buellfighter, how much power loss did you experience? What did you run before, and after the BUBs (did you have other exhausts fail/break too)? and what bike was it on?

Unfortunately, I have experienced a failure with a carbon fiber Vance and Hines (which broke my header). I have a Supertrapp on now, but have read where they have failed too. Seems every Buell exhaust has had problems ...

I didn't have the hardware to install the BUB's, just had the pipes, so I called BUBS and they are sending me out the proper hardware to install these on my S1.

I think it may be wise to have a few exhaust systems ready to go ... if they all, in time, will be breaking ...

Thanks.

they will all break, if not properly installed with the good front hanger

Bub makes good products -- I've run their stuff on many bikes over the years, with no complaints whatsoever --

that said, I'd not uswwe thier pipes on my buell

- too loud
- lost power (mostly in midrange)
- too loud
- no gain (not much lighter than stock)

while installing ANY exhaust part on your tuber, tighten all fitting finger tight, and slowly tighten each faster a little bit, starting with the header to head connection, working your way to the end of the system -- if you have to force anything, you certainly can, but you are simply making certin that something will break later on down the road . . . .

lots of data on this kinda thing in the KV, btw

Put another out let in the rear of the
stock muffler, SAVES $$$.$$ and gives the
same performance ... VERY QUITE !!!

Works the same as the XB12 muffler, but without the valve for low end(will loose a little on TOP END) ...

they will all break, if not properly installed

No matter which exhaust you install, make sure to follow the PROPER technique as outlined in the manual. I think most failures are operator error as opposed to equipment failure.

I have been running them on & off for years.

The first generation can break the right side hanger, By the pulley.
The second generation pipe has side by side hangers there. I have broken a set of the first type. No problem just welded things up.

I am running a nice set on my S1 right now.
They run just fine. More power than stock.
You should bolt them on your bike and see if they are for you. I think it`s a nice spread of power. Good all around exhaust.
I like them better than the VH cans.
Plus the fact that they are a bit odd.

That being said, I also run a Force pipe &
KT pipe on my other S1. These pipes pull hard to red line. It just depends on what your looking for. Give them a try before you sell em.

Thanks for the input.

I'll have the hardware needed for installation by the end of the week ...

S1Eric, you're right -- it would be silly not to install them and see what they're like! So, I'll do that next week, or so ... and see how they compare to the VH and Supertrapp.

Thanks!
