Right now I've got the carbon fiber undertail..

But would like to mount a second oil filter and cooler under the seat. If I didn't use the undertail then I'd get some airflow and extra room.

Who's NOT using any type of undertail on there x1? any negatives?

I went without one for quite a while. Negatives? other than trying to find a way to keep the wiring tucked up in the tail, and the fact it IS visible, and DOES look bad.. I am not one to be overly concerned about looks, but, after a while.....

I say leave it...unless you wanna get a piece of aluminium, that do something interesting with it...ducting and what not...

Try James Banke or Trojan. I went the Trojan hand beaten under tray route. Trojan is way more then Banke, but it looks better as a custom piece, IMO.

i'm in the process of making my own as we speak.. i'm trying to figure out my new camera so i can post some pics of the rebuild i'm doin on my 2000 x1.. gimme a few and i'll show you what i've came up with for the undertail, with just a piece of 2230 aluminum,a press, brake, and roll, and a few dead blow hammers, and a rivet set...i'm doing all this for the first time..and i'm pretty much just doing what I think looks cool,so when i do post the pics keep that in mind..

I removed the trunk tray and license plate holder and all that..
Already ordered an undertail but haven't got it in the mail yet, so I'm riding with the wiring / fuse box exposed to any elements the rear tire throws up.
I'm just waiting to remove the rear fender (the one hugging the tire) until i get the carbon fiber piece installed just to avoid extra debris/water from getting into the fusebox.
