I came across these pics recently and thought some of you might like to see them. I took these pictures while I was working for the old company while I was a co-op student in college. The pictures show the differences between a Japanese spec. 1992 RSS 1200 and a Domestic spec. 1992 RSS 1200. Here are the pics:

'92 RSS left side comparo

'92 RSS rear comparo

And for those who think this must be some kind of one-off prototype, vision of the S2 before the S2 styling exercise, or other similar piece of Buell-lore, here is a shot of a group of partially completed 1992 RSS 1200 Japanese bikes in which I can see a white and a gray fairing identical to the one pictured above:

Let the discussions begin,

Cool!

I had to have a new w/shield made for my RS last year, and the plug that Gustaffson uses has the vents in it.

the differences between the models i notice are the fairing screens, and the side & rear reflectors - any more less obvious differences?

FJ1100, 1200? t/signals, I think.

I got a shortening "kit" from Kim.

Hey Loki, when I changed my cush drive rubbers, I changed the bolts in the carrier. I got some with smooth heads, so they don't bite into the rubbers. They last a lot longer, I think.

I emailed Court about the cushies. My rear carrier has a large amount of extra play in it.

I had picked up some long stalks, they just look funny hanging way out there.

I really wish I had a garage.

So did all the Japan bikes have the 3 piece fairings right from the start?

Loki:

Good news...all RS/RSS parts are pretty much stock items from EFB. The exception is bodywork.

I'm checking today on your cush drive parts.

The exception is bodywork.

Which makes for an expensive repair if you plan on riding it
Oh well

Thanks Court.

Tom is a great person to deal with.

Knowing that all the elfen types are busy. I try not to be a buggy type.

Knowing that the RS I have is somewhat special. Makes putting it right the better path to follow. Not the expedited path I had originally thought. Yet, it should be back on the road this spring.

Long term storage is hard on specific types of parts.

That surprised me as well! That is one way cool, and special, motorcycle you have on your hands. I'd get it back to pristine and enjoy the dickens out of it.

If you need any help or need to talk to any of the fellows who actually assembled YOUR bike, just drop me a note. The ELVES are dedicated to preserving AND RIDING the "old Buells".

Enjoy!

I stand corrected, or sit, or lay thee upon the tracks of doom.

I am glad just to be a bit player in the elfen world
