Based on the welded, multi-piece header and the rear brake lever I would say this is a S2.
Shocking

I LOVE red.

My '95 S2 entering Mosport's Turn 1 during the Ducati Owners club of Canada track rally last May. The most entertaining "touring bike" I've ridden. : D

Hello S2 Enthusiasts,
i am new at the BWB Forum. I am coming from Germany, Hamburg and i am the owner of the best buell, ever built.
It is a 1994 S2.
The first owner have bought this bike in USA and imported it directly to Germany.
The original color was blue.
i have bought the bike in March 2003 with 2003, colored "mint"
In the meantime i have made many Mods. Last year, a specialist for Harley Engines; Company M-Tek-Germany, have rebuild and stroked the engine. This year i have colored the body work.
I hope you enjoy it.
Greetings from Germany

Borsti, nice ride.It is a model year 1995 but was built in 1994.Look at the tag on the steering head,it will give build date. You need to get an S-2 aircleaner backing plate to orient your aircleaner in the proper S-2 direction. You can get a nice billet one from Al at American Sportbike--http://www.americansportbike.com/shop/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?usr=51F9872189&rnd=1978 38&rrc=N&affl=&cip=71.128.39.254&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=6184&cat=s2air&catstr=HOM E:s2air
or look on eBay as they show up all the time.I just sold 2 recently. The original was fiberglass and tilted the back of the aircleaner down to clear your knee better.Later replacements were ABS.

Yes,I can see yours is an early build as it has the billet triple clamps.Somewhere in the 1995 model run they changed to cast aluminum.

My first thought was: Oh, this should be easy. It's gotta be in the parts manual. I checked both my parts manuals didn't see anything telling when the change was made. Then I realized that it wouldn't be that easy, especially considering I no longer have the resources I used to.

So, the best response I can come up with as to when Buell changed to the forged triple clamps on the S2 is:

When they ran out of their supply of the billet ones!

>>>When they ran out of their supply of the billet ones!

That's an accurate statement. It was a running change and it'd be a matter of going back through build sheets to see what day/VIN.

No time for that at present....all "Elves" are deployed on important missions.

The good news is that all the triple clamps work equally well.

Easy,
Glad to be of help with your wheel. Mine's working fine after three years on the S1 track bike. Can't imagine that setup failing.
