WTF???

Finally put the exhaust on today..no problem..

its actually pretty damn quiet..ALOT quieter than my D&D slip on...is it because its JetHot coated inside and out? or?

On the plus side...I have NEVER felt the bike run this good...like a raped ape

Some one PLEASE tell me this thing will break in and get as loud as my slip on..

Chase,

Just curious, is the header a larger diameter on the full system than the stock header you replaced? I put the D&D slip on on my race header and after I rode if for a few days & then switched back to the race muffler, I didn't think the D&D was really any louder than my race muffler. It just had a different sound to it. I think the different headers do seem to make a difference. It took me a few days of riding to decide which one I liked better, though, as they both sounded pretty good to me. One was just slightly better for my taste.

I did find that the race muffler seemed to be tuned better to the race header, race ecm, race aircleaner combo I am running. I feel like I get a bit more power out of the race muffler, at least that is my perception, but that that may partially depend on how I ride. For myself I switched back to the race muffler, just because I liked how it rode better & decided I preferred the sound of the race can. The D&D sounded a little more like a straight pipe Harley, but the race can also has its own distinctive bad ass snarl to it, especially after I re-packed it with rock wool.

Sound quality is sometimes more important to me than quantity. The D&D slip on I had sounded a little more metallic than the race can. The race can sounds more throaty and less crackly. The closest I could think of to compare it to is more like a muscle car with glass packs on it. Kind of has that deep, ground shaking sound. That's the kind of sound you hear even going slow or idling at a light that makes the car windows vibrate. I've never heard a full D&D system, but I suspect that your full D&D system might also have a little less pure volume, but a "bigger" sound like I was trying {to explain above.

It doesn't surprise me that you get more power out of the full system. I think having components that are matched to each other from a tuning standpoint, makes a difference. Your full system was designed to all go together and likely works better together giving you more power.

Louder doesn't always equal more power, and usually doesn't. The way I understand it, straight pipes usually never make as much power as a properly tuned muffler.

I have never taken one apart, but I don't think your system will get a lot louder, because I don't believe their is any packing in the D&D cans to blow out & make them louder. (The D&D I had was welded shut.)

However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't ride the bike even more than you already do, just to try and break in the muffler!

Well, mine has a bolt on the back of it.. I dunno..she seems to be breaking in a little bit...

I am starting to be okay with it.. its just that it was kinda my trademark...lol

Iknow volume doesnt usually equal power..AND under load, going throught the rev range..she does sounds mean..its just while sitting at idle..where my old can woudl have people whinning about how they can hear their cell phone conversations..this system doesnt seem to do that..

Anyway, I think everything is starting to settle, as I am not smelling the jet coating anymore...

Anyway, Wayne Strickland and Bubbe Blackwell are in town..met up with them last nite.. Now, time to clean the bike, and head over there...

Thanks delta..that kinda somethign that Iwas looking for..didnt know if it was a design of the header or what...still not to sure..but hey...
