I'll be getting a D&D Slip-On for my 2002 M2 and am wondering if there are any tips out there on installation. I've never installed a muffler before and I'm not the handiest guy around.

Also wondering if there's anything I should know about maintenance -i hear they rust like crazy.

Thanks.

Loctite, high temp silicone, for the connections.

There is an elbow, the connects the stock header, ot the muffler. Make sure you keep na eye on the connection from teh elbow, to the muffler, as I have noticed, they walk a little for the first couple weeks...

Mine has only rusted a little. D&D reccomends, Krylon, 1200* high temp black paint for touch up.

There will be insctructions, follwo them, and you will be good to go...

Bayview,

You'll also need the stock rear bracket...not a problem if you're replacing a stock exhaust, but if you've got an aftermarket on now...you will need it.

thanks guys -
I'm replacing a V&H S2RR so I'm not sure if the stock rear bracket is there or not. Thanks for the heads up.

I can't wait to hear this beast. I've heard D&D on Harleys, Ducatis and Triumphs - but never on a Buell.

Bayview,
I did the same swap...you'll need that "z" bracket. The V&H uses something different. You might be able to rig something up...but the D&D bolts directly to the stock rear bracket....

If you're looking for a deeper LOUDER sound...you'll love it compared to the V&H. There will be no question where your engine was built....

I use copper never seize compound [at the auto parts store] for the muffler joints and any steel into aluminum screw/bolt that I think doesn't need loc-tite.

If you have the updated front exhaust hanger Y mount, you may need to lift the rear end a bit to pivot the muffler into place. Also, the elbow was a very tight fit onto the muffler for me, you may need to open up the elbow so it slips on a bit easier. You can not just bang it on because you will risk denting the tail pipe. The tail pipe is supposed to be able to come off, but mine wouldn't budge. Tight fits are great once they are assembled, it's assembling them that is a pain. Enjoy, it sounds awesome.

as always with a tuber, keep shaking the whole system to get it to seat with a little snug at each of the three mounting points, definitely do not sock down any of the bolts till you snug and shake a bunch of times. hehe, i never said snug and shake in the same sentence before.

I have a D&D that I could possibly be persuaded to part with. Shoot me an email at uwgriz<at>yahoo<dot>com since the PM thing doesn't seem to work for me lately (I think it's a work thing).

I responded back.. don't know if you got it or not..... If you could hold on to it for a couple weeks... that would rock.. I am trying to buy a buisness and soon as it gets through then funds will loosen up somewhat... and i can shoot ya the cash. Do you have any photos of it? is it in good shape? how many miles are on it? I have the Y pipe so no worries there, and i have the stock header.

YOU THE MAN!
