Hi,
I have recently bought a works performance shock and fitted this to my 95 S2.
Having fitted the unit, I have become aware that after torquing mounting hardware to OEM recommendations, the mounting eyelets are not clamped against either the swing arm or front mount brackets.
In effect there is a 5-10mm lateral side play.
With the bike fully suspended you can move the shock on the mounting hardware.
Can any one from experience of this shock tell me whether they are designed in this manner, or is there something missing.
The eyelet bodies are the same width as the showa, but instead of a bush which provides the extra width to make the shock sit snug in the mounting brackets, the Works P has a plastic sleeve.
Works P have so far not responded to either my e-mail or phone calls about this.
I am trying to prep my bike and am obviously pensive about taking the chance of riding her to find I either break me or the bike.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
Regards from England.

Did you loctite the nut? If so, I'd say you are good to go for now. There is no lateral load, so as long as the pin is held in place and good and snug and loctited, you should be good to go.

If it bothers you, consider putting some washers on either side of the shock eye to help fill in the gaps. Careful not to put the shock eye in any kind of bind though as it does need to be able to freely rotate about the pin inside the clevis.
