So, after getting the Uly, I have to think where the M2 fits in my plans for the future. After my Ice Skating event with the Uly, the M2 got me back in the saddle while I was waiting for parts for the Uly. Well, yesterday I got the Uly back on the road and man is it sweet. The M2 needs work and I don't have the interest or money to maintain it. So now I have a decision to make. Do I just let it sit until I have the interest for that project bike or let it go.

If the latter comes to be, then I need to figure out what is the bike worth. The bike is not in perfect condition but it's also not bad. I took the bike to Appalachian Adventure this past October and it ran great. The picture below is from the Brag event.

M2

Bike Stats...
- The bike is 99 Model.
- It just turned over 42,000 miles
- The engine has never been opened (At least as far as I can tell, I'm the third owner.)
- It has a Corbin Gun Fighter Seat.
- It has the Ventura Rack system with two bags (10 & 45 Liter) and the hand rail.
- It has a Vance & Hines Slip On Muffler
- It has lower set risers
- It has a 2000 and newer factory stainless steel header.
- The bike still starts better than the Uly. The bike can sit for four weeks, prime the bike with two throttle twists, pull the choke, and the the bike usually fires on the first turn. It almost starts too quick.
- The bike does not smoke but has plenty of oil leaks. There seams to be an oil leak at the base of the front push rod tower. Engine oil is getting through to the transmission and then pushes out the vent tube. I replaced the gasket at the main shaft, but then pulled a good one when I put the K&N Force Winder on and blocked up the vent tubes when I rerouted them. That has been fixed and I really can fix the seal again pretty easily.
- The bike needs a front brake rotor carrier. It rattles and needs to be replaced.
- Both the grips on the handle bars need to be replaced. The bar end caps have fallen off and the the rubber is separating from the steel.
- The choke bracket was broken when we installed the present jets in the carburetor after the Force Winder. It still has the stock 200 main jet, but the pilot jet is up to 50.
- Something has let go in the rear shock. Though all hard parts appear fine, there is dirt from an obvious fluid leak on the rear shock and the bike no longer has rebound control.
- The front tire is at least half worn and the rear tire is striped.
- Though I've never laid it down, the bike had been dropped by the previous owner. As he said, the bike slid on gravel turning from one road to another at about 20mph. The Air box acted like a frame puck so the frame and body work was never hurt. The mirror, air box, header and lower controls were hit. I have replaced everything except the mirror which has a small section of the edge of the mirror that is still showing the sign of the drop.

So, what do you think its worth?

less than 4,000

depends on how Buell savy the person is.
3000-3400 to somebody that knows the Buell market value.

3500-4xxx to somebody who think its a race type Harley bike... ie a sucker

I watched a 2002 m2 low miles on ebay sell for 3500 and a 1999 x1 low miles sell for the same price.

Must be really easy to do wheelies with that lead weight hanging off the back.

If you've never seen it, thats a really nice set of bags.

Sadly, if you want top dollar you'll have to part it out. If you want to sell it whole you'll be well into the $2,500-$3,500 range if you're in a hurry. If you have an interest in the process, and if you want top dollar, more than parting it out, convert it to a chopper and sell it before the fad changes again.

If your rear shock is blown then your financial options are deciding where to cut your losses versus keeping it to ride versus putting a strut on back and converting it to a drag bike. You could experiment with converting it to conventional shocks like some have done but not gone out of their way to show their results.

I have no idea yet where things will end up with my M2, but I wish you success with where ever you end up with your's.

You can sometimes find a rear shock on ebay for less than $100.

There is one there now but the starting bid is stupid ($80).
I suggest that you wait until the auction ends (six days) and contact the seller.
Lowball him.

Watch for an eBayer selling body parts and email them asking if they have the shock. I bought a swingarm and shock for a combined $100 this way. That means you could get a shock for $50?

Here are some comparable completed sales on eBay. I've been keeping my eye on prices since my s3t has some issues. After they are over 4 or 5 years old, all the Buells tend to go for around $3,000 +/- Condition, age, mileage, and mods don't seem to change the price too much.

Thanks for the EBay reference. I bought this M2 off of EBay and yeup, for around that range.

I figure from what I see if I take the add-ons off and sell them separately, I'll have about a $2K bike left. What do you think?

Might still have a $3,000 +/- parts bike left since condition, age(over 4/5 yr), mileage, and mods don't seem to change the price too much on eBay. Even wrecked ones with salvage titles tend to auction off for $2,500 min. I don't understand other than the Redneck Mutant is in high demand right now.

I don't think it will fit an X1. The rack goes on the tail section frame which is totally different from M2 to X1. Al Lighton (American Sportbike) can take care of you though.
