Yeah, I put a bid in, but was outbid. NO big deal. Not topped out, not by a long shot..just wasnt looking to spend a fortune on one. I am not good with plastic or fibreglass...so I do have to buy one...but...

Were you the other bidder? Or, was it someone else?

Stealth, looks great. Now you just need to ditch the rear pegs as they are totally useless. I did mine as the wife doesn't seem to want to ride anymore (too many wheelies, I guess....lol). Removing the pegs really cleans the back of the bike up, especially if you have a polished/chromed swingarm.

Stealth... looks awesome... that's what I'm goin for only mine is Black over Nuc Blue.

Ditto Blue.. I already have my rear pegs off.. looks clean hoping to powdercoat the swing arm in the future.

Chase... no I did not put a bid in... I would not want to bid against a BWB member... and hopefully he will repost an auction style one again where I could get a good price.

I jsut looked at the "shadow" bidder and he/she has bought jewlery and purfume that last three items and now a seat cowl for an X1????

That "shadow" bidder would be me. Hey... it was Christmas... Ebay is easier than the mall. You think those items are strange... I've bought everything from a soprano sax to a 79 Trans Am. It's a sickness...

Hmmm, okay. I tend to keep an eye on Ebay, but, most of us look out, and try not to bid against one another...courtesy thing here....NOT required, but, for some us, its greatly apporeciated....

I generally don't bid against webber's I recognize... I was the first bid on this item though. Now that I've seen the fiber glass/stock seat project... the cowl doesn't look as apealing...

If someone (I'd do it) contacted the seller, maybe we could get a group rate?... If the average cowl is $150 and he sells a couple, maybe he'd do a few sure sales at a lower price. Hmmm...
Let give this a week for people to weigh in, say Feb 7th.
On the 7th I'll supply a total of those Badwebbers who desire cowls and see if he is interested in cutting us a deal. Please post a suggested price or maximum price people would be willing to pay?
May I suggest we show interested parties by simply taking the total interested and adding one in a post.
ex. 0 (Have posted to this point)+ 1 (wardan123)=1 desired at a possible discounted rate.
The next interested party would post:
1 (previous total) +1 (for themselves)= 2 cowls desired.

Bluelightning or Silverbullet if you'd like the opportunity to fill the order first, the others may not mind.

Wardon... not a bad idea...
Would you be looking at the glass or the plastic... personally I would take the plastic b/c I don't forsee "fixing" or "working" on the glass.. If i get a crack or something than I would can it..

we could decide an offering price based on what they are selling on... on ebay..

Warden,

I'd really like to help out, but that was why I went the way of looking at an outside vendor as I am completely swamped with time needed to put my design into production on a larger scale. I could do 2 or 3, but if it were more than that, I'd never get orders filled in a reasonable time frame.

Camaroboy8691 I think you might want to reread your agreement when you joined this forum. You are not a sponsor here and there are several that are that pay good money to sell there merchandise on the BadWeb. For you to do this is very unfair to them. I'm sure you understand, put yourself in there position.

Hey Camaro dude! No big deal. Just wanted to let you know that posting commercial ads in the classifieds is a no-no on BadWeB. So I moved your ad to the "Links" page where it is acceptable. We try to keep a strict reign on non-sponsor marketing on BadWeB; it's nothing personal. I'm sure your intent was not malevolent in any way. That user agreement is a long one. : ) I should probably put the statements about non-sponsor marketing closer to the top.

Thanks for understanding.

Blake

To clarify, posting non-sponsor advertisements anywhere on BadWeB is a no-no. Thanks for understanding and for helping to maintain the value of board sponsorship for the folks who pay the bills here.

Blake and everyone else...
In a way I invited Ted to head this direction because of some intrest in purchasing a seat cowl.
First off I hope I did not offend anyone or violate any aggreement...
Second I see Ted as someone who looks to have the same intrest in bikes that we do and has a talent in making these pieces...

I guess I am looking at how we as intersted parties could better communicate with someone like this and get the information to all who have been interested in this product.

He seems to want to work with us on a price and if people are interested why can't we discuss that price here..

Thanks for the feedback Blake...You have always taken the time to explain before and I hope that Ted doesn't tkae this the wrong way either and can be included in the future of BadWeb.

No non-sponsor marketing. Ask the folks who shell out significant dollars to keep the place running why it is inappropriate to have a competitor come here and offer his wares without helping to support the site.

It sure is an easy way to get into business, visit a web site board and offer to provide pricing on a group buy. BadWeB is not here to help entrepreneurs get into business. We're here to provide a forum for Buell enthusiasts. That takes significant resources.

If we adopt the attitude that anyone can market their wares here, pretty soon the sponsors are wondering "why am I paying for the same thing that others are getting for free?" Then they cease sponsoring and the site ceases to exist.

Savy? It's the simple and basic law of the land here, no non-sponsor marketing.

ok just curious what is considered a non sponser post ?

if i would say "dealer A" has it for xxx amount of dollers and "dealer B" has xxx amounts of dollers for parts ....and then I come in and say hey guys email me i think i have what your lookin for is that still advertising ? I DONT THINK SO

i take that as a form of someone helping others out ... but then yet since you guys know i already make the parts im sure you will have a hard on for me everytime i post here

with all of that being said , do you offer a special advertising rate for the low man on the totem pole ? if you do maybe i can be one of your sponsors.

Teddy,
For the most part, even us sponsoring vendors (or at least me, anyway) try to limit our commercial posting outside our sponsor sections to basically what you just said. If someone posts that they are looking for something, I'll post a response that says that we have it and post a link. That is essentially what you did, but I pay for the privilege, and you don't. As a sponsor, we get our own section, and I try to limit my blatantly commercial advertising to that section. To do otherwise would reduce the quality of the board, IMHO. I was just a normal schmuck here long before I was a Buell biz owner and sponsor, and I think the board is better when it isn't blatantly commercial. Of course, some times a discussion is about a particular product, and the line between product discussion and marketing can be thin and fuzzy. But when it turns in to a pointer to a purchase location from a non-sponsoring vendor, IMHO, it goes against the letter and spirit of the rule.

Contact me at sales-at-americansportbike-dot-com. I can help you market those cowls if they're of decent quality and there's margin in it for me. I'd need to see one in person to confirm fit and quality before I could commit to that, naturally.

Blake, you are absolutely correct, and us sponsoring vendors appreciate your rule.

Al

Blake, Al, and Ted,
Thanks for your feed back and explination/clarification...
Ted. I apologize that I directed you this way and it was against site policy...
Hopefully you can still use this site as a great resource and meet some good people here...

That being said as you are aware some of us are interested in the cowl... and I don't think there is a huge money making market/demand for them.. My hope is that your intentions are to help accessorize your fellow Bueller while making a reasonable/modest profit... If I could do what you could do I would probably do the same thing.

Blake... I totaly understand where you are coming from... but another thought is that if he IS trying to supply our request and another sponsor does NOT supply those I don't see that as advertising without sponsorship...

I DO HOWEVER respect your rules and appreciate the fact that you let our opinions be known and have an open forum discussion about this kind of thing.

Adam

Thanks Al! We all appreciate you and the other sponsors for your integrity and concern for the place.

Adam,
I see your point, but in my experience it is best that there be no gray area wrt folks offering to sell stuff here. I have no way of policing the scenario you imagine. That would make the enforcement issue that much more difficult for everyone. Best to keep it simple black and white, no non-sponsor selling/marketing stuff here, period.

Ted,
The rate is the same for everyone.
