Oh man, I wish I could save this bike! It's simply way too Beulltiful to end up a chopper...

I'm sure his reserve is high enough to keep Jersey's pogostickers at bey. Let's hope, anyway. That bike looks exactly like mine's 'spose'ta! Same color, same year. Til some chopper affectionado got at it, that is.

I wanted to offer the owner my 1978 Camaro RS as a trade. I would like to have that bike.

I'd bet the reserve is way to high for the chopper builders.

It's an utterly beautiful bike too! We have a chopperboy on this website too and his profile says he owns 4 Buell's. Wasn't there a chopperboy here that posted last summer with a chain alignment problem on a redneck mutant that had a gutted Buell motor? Makes me cringe... I wrote the seller on Ebay and he wrote back and thanked me for the heads up. The chopper boy on Ebay does have feedback/convictions for selling Buell S2 parts. Why not just sell spare organs from healthy babies to a make a few bucks. It's a sweet lookin ride...

Natexlh1000,

I love it! Actually headed to AZ for a couple of years to get away from my X-Wife and to enjoy the roads in Northern AZ. Missed winter so much, had to return to the Midwest for more punishment!

The bidding is picking up on eBay. This bike is seriously undervalued. I honestly believe its worth exceeds that of a new bike, but who's going to list a not-quite-yet-collectible beyond the price of a brand new, latest technology, full warranty bike? Hope it finds a good home.

The last minute of bidding should be interesting.

A bit over 6G for that beautiful motorcycle - seems like it should have been at least 50% - 100% higher. (IMHO) I guess that makes my turbo'd S2'd, RS worth about 37 bucks. It did reach the reserve he set for it, but I still think a piece of ridable history like that is worth so much more than 6 thousand dollars (and it sold new or 15 or so)
Look up 'depreciation' in the dictionary and there's a little photo of a tube frame Buell there.

I hope the new owner is either on this board or finds out about it and keeps us 'antique Buell fans' up on this bike - it's a beauty!

Jersey - I'm bettin' that for 6G this one's not going to get hacked up! WHEW!

I was just looking through the winning bidders most recent won auctions...
I am inclined to think that this bidder is a collector of fine motorcycles and this incredible piece of history is in safe hands.

The new owner of that bike appears to be Chris Dolan (judging by his eBay handle). This man has MANY MANY motorcycles and likely knows what he got. I dunno how much of a Buell guy he is but I suspect he knows a thing or two about bikes.

Check the bid history on that auction for some interesting details.

The eventual winner placed a bid (of some unknown amount) 11 seconds before the auction closed. That used up the proxy of the guy that had the high bid by $100 and took the bidding to $5,877.77.

Three seconds later, with 8 seconds left, the guy who had been high (and who finished in 2nd) threw another $100 into the pot.

The eventual winner's pending proxy immediately topped that by $100 as the auction closed. Makes me wonder if that other guy was still frantically trying to make another bid.

If you have a maximum amount in mind that you are truly willing to spend, the best thing is to bid that amount as close to the end as possible. That will eliminate a lot of price escalation from reactive bidders. And if someone else is doing the same thing and is willing to pay more, that's life.

Jack

I'd say it's in good hands. Chris Dolans is one of those motorcycle lawyers from Cali. He's also a huge supporter of motorcyclists rights. I think I've seen his name assosiated with a Buell somewhere in the past.
