 The dual headlight set up on my S-1. I tried to make it look like how the factory would have done it in '98. The fly screen obviously still needs to be painted. | ||

The headlights pictured looks like the streetfighter 3 headlights from Trojan Horse (http://www.britnett.net/adrenalinmoto/listings/69.html) I've got a pair in my X1, and yeah, you'd need to cut away some of your windscreen as shown in the picture. I tried this with mine, but cutting it was such a pain in the butt I mangled it and ended up going screenless. A low effort alternative to cutting your existing screen would be to go with a new one from RRC (http://www.r-r-customizing.de/seiten/shop_eng/index.html?target=p_4.html&lang=en -us) but these only come in carbon, and are priced accordingly. Personally, if I had it to do over again I would have gone the XB headlight route that Tsispyder mentioned. | ||

I found when I installed a set of XB lights on my S-1 that XB light assembly was too wide to fit within the stock headlight mounts. I had to raise the "dog ears" and have a one off mount made to attach the lights to my bike. (Message edited by seth on November 10, 2005) | ||

  Chase, The wiring is crazy easy. Buell used the same color code for both model years. I just snipped the wires off the back of the stock headlight bucket and soldered it together with the headlight wiring from an S-3, a bit of shrink wrap, a dab of liquid electrical tape, all stuffed into a wiring loom and voila}! | ||

 Here's the "pig tail" I made up for the wiring. If you notice, the orange wire doesn't continue through from the chassis wiring harness side to the headlight end. It's because the U.S. model XBs don't have the pointless parking light so Mr. Orange wire had no where to go. Rather than just cut it off completely, I kept ten inches of it and just put a female connector on it and stashed it away in the wire loom. I figured with the end on it it didn't have an opportunity to ground itself on anything and I could later have a 12v source if I need one in the future. | ||

Dude...so do I just buy the connector from Buell, adn slice from there? or do I have to find a S3? Chase | ||

I bought an S-3 harness from Tramp awhile ago so I just used that. I don't believe (but I could be wrong, I often am) Buell sells the connectors. The end from the XB headlights are a female end and the end from the bike's wiring harness is female as well. | ||

Hey..., not that it's that important..., but do the dual headlights actually light up the road better on low beam and high beam or is it pretty much the same? | ||

The Xb headlights don't need the grill then right?? I'm not much for the off road lights look on a street bike. Previously I've seen several dual headlight setups and the one I originally posted looked the best...That is why i wasn't sure if it was the XB setup. Thanks for the input | ||

im thinking about doing it since my hedlight is cracked, and its around hte same for headlights, and a carbon windscreen, so might as well get the xb lights, make a bracket, and get a carbon xb scren | ||

"...So how is that mount holding up for ya there Seth??..." Spiderman (Tony) made the bracket for me and it's still going strong! As for the question if the dual lights are brighter? Not really, I just like how it looks; all made possible by the Amazing Spiderman. |
