I have cut down the plastic front pulley cover so it does not catch the rear slave cylinder and apply the brake with the suspension compression/exstension after reading about this problem here.I was thinking the excessive rear brake pad wear and brake dust would now be a thing of the past.But no still my x1 eats rear brake pads! I have carefully checked my foot is nowhere near the rear brake lever other than when applying the brake and the also checked it is not dragging by sticking it on the race stand and spinning the wheel.The disc always feels warm after a ride but it is not excessive.
It has got me stumped.can anyone offer any help or an old thread on this problem. thanks

Maybe too much adjustment on master cylinder rod,my S-2 would do this if I had too much adjustment.After a long or spirited ride the fluid would expand from heat causing the rear brake to drag.Same thing can happen with old fluid that has some moisture in it or if system needs a bit of bleeding.I would put all new fluid in,bleed well and adjust the brake rod after a good ride.

My X1 would drag the rear sometimes. I finally figured out that the pedal pivot was sticky.
I scraped off the frame paint where the pivot is and that made it work fine again.

More stuff to check:

Is your caliper free to move on the pins?
Did you remember to lube up those two pins when you were in there last?
Make sure the fancy rubber seals on those pins aren't caught in there wrong.

Take off the caliper and compress the piston and then put it back on the bike with brake pads and everything.
You should be able to move the caliper side to side easily.

AS Nate indicates the caliper mount pins and boots need to be checked for trash and binding
when the back caliper binds up you may also see
high wear on one pad vs both.

All new x1 owners should check this first thing. Found it after bleeding and wondering why does my rear brake sucks?
