I was out riding today, and lost an L from my tank lettering on my '96 S1!! Does anyone know if they are still available from the dealer??(Yeah I know, I can call them in the morning) Or if there are any sources for cool ones from someplace else(like the american flag patterned ones I saw on someones bike)?

Oyeah about time someone started this. Where are the decals ? where they made for awhile and then just forgotten? I mean this kinda sucks for example the 2000-2002 x1 , those tanks are going to fade and need paint, where are my 5 dollar decals to put back on them???????????????????? Too bad though i think I already know the answer. hope not... Ill be shocked if x1 decals are available.

Decals have a shelf life and aren't usually stocked. They need to be ordered. The old ones were always peeling off, or lifting. I got an 05 XB9SX decal on my bike, but most from years back are still available.

You can also have them made at a sign shop (vinyl lettering) I believe some have done that as well with good results.

Anyone have the part numbers for the updated tank decals?? My dealer is working out of the 1996 book, gives him the number for the flat decals, not the raised ones.
He couldn't find the raised ones.
Mine are the white decals, with the grey "american motorcycles" on them.

Smitty,
What year is YOUR bike? The gray and white were offered in flat. Now for the tricky part, the old part # 14602-95y has changed to part # M0730WH/GR.8 I don't think it would be raised. These guys might have it.

Yes, raised letters.
It's a 1996 S1.
And no, Bloomington doesn't have them...that's where I went!
He looked long and hard for them though!

I'm pretty sure they are like the ones you have on your bike (M0730WH/GR.8) As far as I know they haven't made a raised decal in white and gray. they did make an all white or pick a different color.

Robert, I like the stock decals for my M2 but have looked into some nice custom decals here: www.edecals.com. Thanks for starting this thread. Bob T.

Has anyone ever compiled a set of photos of the different Buell tank lettering/logos over the years? It would be neat to know what they all looked like and what's still available.

The white letters on my Billet Metallic tank are pretty bland looking and I'd be interested to replace them with something that "jumps out" a little more.

I'm getting ready to repaint my s3t this winter and found this company on the net. http://www.fastdecals.com/ I contacted them about making some custom Buell "paint mask" decals so I can paint on the lettering instead of worrying about the inevitable tank peel caused by using regular vinyl decals on the tank. They seem heads up. The prices seem really good too. They have some Buell decals listed on the site, but will make anything.

FSM,
I've been pondering doing the same thing with the paint mask. Thanks for the info, and let me know if there's a quantity discount and you need a partner.

Formerslimjim,
Think the company you're dealing with would make a set of American flag decals like the ones on Jose's bike?

Easyrider, If I remember correctly, the "paint mask" added about 20% to the cost of the stock decals.

Seth, They have alot of specialty vinyls like carbon fiber, diamond plate, etc. It's probably best to just email them a pic and ask.

Please note guys that I have not bought off these people before - I only know what I see on their site and that they answered my questions and seemed to know what they were talking about. I'll probably order off them this winter. At about $1/inch for decals, it's certainly cheaper than the official ones.

Also, these are vinyl and will possibly blister off if put on the nylon tanks. They are not the cushion backed, raised lettering types of decals that Buell switched to. They may be able to make the raised decals though - I didn't ask that question.
