I bought a Billet Tach kit on Ebay for $127.50, it must have been a kit unboxed sitting in a display case with-out install instructions. I found a post explaining how to install the kit but I don't know where to place my ignition key switch(The Billet dash has holes for Speedo, Tach, Odometer/Trip reset button, and Idiot lights but NO hole for an Ignition key switch). My stock dash had holes for everything including my ingnition key switch. Is there another kit that I'll need to have to mount my ingnition switch?

Steve,
The dash you have is missing a hole. It may be for an earlier M2. Earlier M2's have the ignition key down by the choke. I purchased this billet dash off of ebay, it has the part number quoted in your auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4565498522&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
You want to contact the dealer to see if there was a billet dash for earlier M2's.

Pellis,
My dash that I haven't installed yet, but hopfully soon will, after I modify it so it'll work for me
The picture above is what I got, also the part that I'll be modifying to look more like yours.
I wish it started like yours. What a difference it makes, the tach kit looks awsome on your bike!

If you can get that clamped down nicely on a drill press, you may be able to put that hole in that yourself. I'd use a step drill and set the drill press to its slowest speed. If that chatters, try turning the spindle by hand. You can figure out the size from your old housing.

I have the installation instructions for the later M2 tach kit (black plastic like housing). I can scan those and send them to you if you email me at jacker at midmaine dot com.

I saw a new style (black) dual housing for sale on eBay awhile back but it is probably not there anymore. And that does not have anywhere near the class that the one with the Pegasus does.

I made my own a while back to look like similar to a GD head/skull, to get that hole should be pretty easy, I just clamped it in a vice and using a mill cut the hole, you will need a mill or a table of some sort because if you just cut a hole there will be no flats in order to keep the keyway from turning. The mill allows you to bolt the vice to it and then after getting it set properly you can turn the necessary handle to cause the bit to create a new key hole with flats

I got lucky,
Miami HD is sending me the rest of the parts needed to finish the tach/dash kit and have sent me an installation instruction PDF file. While I wait for the parts to arrive, I've started modifying the dash to mimic the dash I need(One that looks like pellis' dash). I don't have access to a drill press or mill, so I'm using a dremel with numerous style bits to form the holes and shoulders in the holes to fit the ignition switch and odometer reset switch properly.

Dart,
Can I get a copy of the PDF?
I have a dash I've yet to install on my M2.

Hopefully this will show the PDF. If not, I'll try again with a Word file.

I tried posting the PDF, but it was too large of a file (315KB). I'll send you a message.

I just found out one other important fact difference between my 2000 M2 and Pre-1999 M2's, the speedometer I have is a 3.5" and pre-1999 M2's must have a 3" instead. This modifying and older Billet dash is for the birds, I've been doing all the grinding mods needed by using a Lithium/Ion cordless Dremel with grinding/shaping bits. UHGG. Now I get to enlarge one of the openings so my Speedometer fits. Whats next? Geeze

That's why I was going to make my own until I found this one which was made by another guy who had the same idea as me. A billit M2 dash with an opening for a clock!

That looks great!!! It would be nice to have a clock, but then I could imagine looking to see what time it is too often making time go by very slow. I like cruising around not knowing what time it is, unfortunatly sometimes that makes me late for things and also lost.

>Thanks, That picture was a huge help. I haven't mastered puting pictures on line yet or I would have. I may just enlarge the one hole I have(for the odometer button) so the ignition will fit in that hole, and drill out another hole for the odometer reset button. Mine looks identical, except for the upper hole just under the idiot lights isn't there, and where your ignition is is where my trip reset is. I e-mailed Miami HD also. Thanks again Steve
