ok, ok, its not a buell, but then again, for its time it may as well have been. this comes at the request of mike j and bommer,, hope you guys like it.. i picked her up as basicaly a rolling basket case. she didnt look anthing like this when i got her.. the first picks are just 4 fun,,, of course at some point in her many years some one had dorpped the tranny and tore out the lower case corner. the welded it back in the filled in the speedo drive hole. a very common thing to do on early sportys.. unfortunately when the re bored the couter shaft bearing hole the got it .025 away form where it should have been. she walked the bearing out and the chain chews the end off. replace it with a little retaining compound and it dose it again.. so to work with the old girl.. i throw her up on the mill to get the measurements and find just as i suspect that the couner shaft goes threw the tranny at a slight angel. so i bore her out,, its steped form the inside, and knurled, then frozen and pressed in. she is tight as a drum and will never move now, i also cut a little grove for a piece of music wire just to make sure if the bearing ever starts to walk again it cant walk out into the chain again. the old girl patiently waiting at home..

for some reason i just really like this picture, the way the wires come out of the mag mike j here is your right side engine shot you ask 4 no gages,, its one of the most relaxing things you can do. you forget about everthing. you listen to the bike and relax. no constantly looking down, unless you want to watch the world go by in the back of the head light,, thats fun too.. oh yeah,, and for you guys who like my work, the fork brace is one of mine, and so are the fork caps. i kinda wanted to keep her origionality, that means the 1/2 drum up front and fish hook sliders. unfortuantly they only run with baffels. so i took 72 frok seals and made caps they press into. the caps attach to the legs where the bellows normaly do, the 1" billet 6 degree trees are mine too. no one made them for these old girls so i figured i needed to. the head lamp and fork bag are on the same plate. i like fork bags but hate to see them tied to the legs and flopping around. that is actually a harley winshield bag. it screws to the head lamp mount i made.. gotta carry the lead additive some where!! hope you guys like her.. i know you guys probaly got alot better but shes mine and i love her.. |

Aaron! As a rule I'm not into that style, BUT you built that from a Basket case? Man Too sweet! liked the cases where you did not fix the scratches character in just the right amounts This is the bike that you had to put a fender on You Sir are an artist of the first order Amazing! |

grew up as a sporty man myself, that bike is SWEEET. It exemplifies everything that is beautiful about a sporty. Lean and mean. |

History, the essence of why I started to read and years later stopped reading Easyriders. I hope that these things will get their due soon...it took a while before flatties became valuable... |

thanks guy, your approval is much appreciated,, every piece of that bike has been threw my hand, she got a lot of sweat and blood worked into her. natexlh1000, she took a bit of work to get the quick silver on. they say you cant. some manifold adjustments and a pingle pet , proper gas tank alinment. a little finess. voilla!! i like their product alot. unfortunatly found the customer service center very un-helpful in my particular application. still guys, thanks a million for all your comments. |

Very nice! As a person who love vintage cycles, it is nice to see one restored instead of blinged out or hacked to death. |

Aaomy, have you thought about approaching a magazine for a feature on the bike? That Sportster is cover material. |

It's the littlest touches that make it so sweet. The factory emblems, the springs on the seat, the horn. Very, very, tastefull. |

again guys, thanks to all, djkaplan,, dont really think shes magazine material, shes not a merch 131 with 12 over front end and a 280 in the rear,, and damn glad too... not that i dont appreciate those bikes too. love all bikes,, but that is the trend, on the other hand i tried to give her a timeless originality, a nice flow of aesthetic and functionality..i tried to enter her i a charity show before and she lost to a stock 883 with only custom paint..but then again what do i know.. i built her for me, and i love her to death. hotrodsportster,, good to hear from you,, man i need to send you an e-mail,, would love to know what all your into,, was your "bowl of soup" good!! hopefully i can get some time in on the s2 clip ons tomorrow. the past week/end, was kinda crazy. need to get some sleep now, latter guys, aaomy |
