Just got a call from local dealer saying 3875 mile 2002 S3T would not pass inspection due to a front rotor being under "spec"

Seems as though this is a bit too soon to need a rotor.

Any thoughts?

if the rider is an MSF 'grad', there's a good chance they're on the front brake like white on rice, in which case it very well could get a wave in it....

under spec? stick a mic on it, the minimum # is right there on the carrier, 4.5mm. If it is too warped I would think you would know that already.

Mine made it 4K !! Too many corners on 89A in AZ! Replaced with an EBC and have had no problems since.

Mine's glazed pretty bad from avoiding too many cars!! Are front rotors hard to replace? Just a bunch-o-bolts?

Den -- well, just a buncha bolts, but secured with Olympian Loc-Tite -- many tips in the KV fer gettin em out, including some involving the sacrifice of small mammals -- do not go to the garage an hour before Church and expect to catch the sermon -- it's gonna take some time

Thanks all for the input

RT- mine's alittle guy, but he's a fighter.
my rotor is the second one i've had since new.
using the real expensive pads will kill a rotor faster, and using asbestos pads (yes, virginia, asbestos is still used in some brake pads) will
kill you faster. steve mqueen would be aliove today were it not for asbestos brake pads on his bikes...when you make the friable dust, it gioes right into your breathing-path.

I got 4.9mm, don't mean to brag (or is that 49mm or cm for that matter?) Does anyone ever cut the glaze on rotors with sandpaper these days? We were taught that in auto shop in high school when our horses had disc brakes. old skewl knowledge worth a try or total folly?

I used factory rotors, a factory Nissin caliper for the right side, a factory pre '98 master cylinder, and an aftermarket Nissin with an adapter for the other. It's tough. It sucks until the brakes heat up a little and then it's just awesome.

I warped three stock rotors and one EBC race rotor.

I have my dual set up still on my bench waiting to be installed...

I need a vacation.

Hey Mike! Hey Tom!

Mike, I still cannot imagine what must be causing your rotor issues. That is really strange. I mean I flog the p outa mine on the track and never a problem other than wearing the rotor out or unevenly worn EBC pads. I like the EBC rotor a bunch.

Hope you find something that finally works!
