"If I set the rev limiter at say 6,000 RPM, would that engine live well and long?"

Probably, but I couldn't vouch that the rider would.; )

Oldog, That is possibly a little tire spin. Also, I have the stock clutch so it could have been slipping a bit at that point.

"I absolutely just have to ask whats it like to ride ?"

I have to answer that question with another question...are you close personal friends with God?; ) It's loud too. It's an unruly beast, really.

Tom, call me anytime. It'll be good to hear from you. Wes sez regards right back.}

Oh and look at the a/f at the bottom of the chart. It should be between 13 and 13.2, ideally. You can imagine how sweet that chart would look with proper fuel.

as a matter of fact yes, thank you Jesus....
is it a "value your licence" as much as life type question?

are you telling me think shot out of a cannon,?
0- 100 about 2 heart beats if it stays under you,
or your arms don't come out of socket?

loud (open header loud)-cool,
Unruly (not for around town, no loafing around, hunting the next unsuspecting ricer for some fun) - waycool,

if it were on a menu could you call it "Busa-suprize?"

Pammy, thanks for sharing the thing has to be too much fun! ride safe
Jim

One last question if i might?
how do you keep your helmet on, that has got to provoke a rather wide grin!!!
just trying to emagine what it is like to ride has me grinning!

"loud (open header loud)-cool,"

It's loud, like, make the hair on the back of your head fall out kinda loud. Like, collapse your lungs kinda loud. Like, "officer PLEASE don't take me to jail" kinda loud.

It would surprize a Busa. Not that it would outrun a Busa at all. But it doesn't look like it can do what it do.

My helmet stays on cuz I have a fat head.....; )

With a fairing and a stretched swingarm I bet it sure would outrun a Busa. Them Busas is heavy. A ZX12R would be tough to beat though.

I was about to say that we had wandered off-topic, but apparently Wes is a living breathing Power Commander, so I think we are okay. : ]

ran my x1 open header 1 time about 5 min had to see ( hear ) .yeah thats loud...

never met you can't comment on the head, if it were large as you suggest I would infer that it was a container for a lot of information ..

On the pc:
your shop has the load regulating dyno and the exhaust gas monitor for fuel air,
If I wanted to get some tuning done or test something how far out would I need to plan a visit,

some thing I am having trouble grasping here is the pc lists rev settings down to idle.
yet, do i have this correct that the adjustments for low speed don't work to well (if at all)

the local shop has the ability to take some of the measurements but not to adjust in a steady state or monitor fuel air. thats why i loaded the factory map and left it there.

I had the '01 x1. Before I got the Force on it, I did the 'ol open header, loud, yes. I rode it for a few miles. When I got back I couldn't put the k' stand down, I left the bracket off and the motor sank out of the frame. Any way back at the ranch, the Force with nothin in it but space, it felt like the Force was ten times louder than the open header.

Pammy that's an incredible dyno chart ya got there, so are you tellin me that you have pushed the envelope to the point where drivability is on the edge? Like should I stick with what I got even though it's truly ridiculous when I could have more? What kind of torque does your motor push? Hmmmmm I have trouble makin responsible decisions when I see those kind of possibilities..... Staggering numbers to be sure!

Oldog, we book at least 2 weeks out. PCIII doesn't do anything for you in lower RPM range.

I think my motor has about 128 ft lbs of tq. It's still just an 88". It just pushes alot of air, thanks to Wes. Drivability is not an issue for the purpose this bike serves.

It's not all or nothing, you don't have to go as far as I did on the motor. As a matter of fact I would never recommend what I did for a street bike.

So you have heard a stock(ish) motor with open pipes, you may be able to imagine how loud a motor like mine is with open, stepped, pipes.

I am putting a new carb on the old yeller beast. I may have to drag her out back and see what she can do now. If I can find the time.

thanks Pammy:

I am pondering mods that might enhance reliabillity more than power.

Thanks Oldog.
I am learning the Force pipe is the root of all my tuning woes. Once this F.I. bike is corrected, can I expect it to feel the same/similar as my carb. M2 of the same year?

Buellitt:
I honestly can't answer definitavely about carbed vs FI. (never ridden a carbed buell)
What I can tell you is when the black box stuff works it works well.
When we stop and think about it the efi control & spark maps , not to mention design dynamics are set up for a given configuration of engine ( cams heads etc ) and plumbing, (inlet and outlet) if we as owners disturb one or the other the efi may not be able to compensate enough to maintain the best "tune".
As far as the carb vs efi rideability, From responses I have had in the past and my own experience if all other things are ok on your scoot I would expect that the efi bike may be "slightly" better than a well sorted carb,
Good luck on the sorting, I tend to think of the force pipe as an accessory for a track bike, I have added a force intake, eliminate dirt ingress, and a supertrapp, more bark and a little less weight both worked well with the stock engine and it was rideable, I added a pc3 because of issues with pinging on take off.
( bike did this before mods )
look in the kv I have posted stock vs moded dyno numbers I have not dynoed the bike since I added the pc3 nor has it been tuned it runs acceptably well and does not ping, the only thing I have noticed is when cold it will stumble and a hard whack to full throttle will be rewarded with a stumble other than that its all good. keep us posted.
