I just got a 2000 cyclone and am looking for a way to make it a little more comfortable. The it's got a works performance aftermarket shock that seems to make it sit higher than my friends buell. It sits high enough to make me slide up against the tank. I've taken out the shock all the way to try and lower it a little bit, is there anything else I can do to make the back end sit down a little more?

Look for a stock "low" seat from one of the sponsors, all the dealerships sponsoring here are great. Or venture onto that online auction site...

Post a wanted ad in the parts wanted, classified section here.

(converting to a S1 tail and seat made the reach much easier for me.)

Do you think it has anything to do with the works shock? or would a corbin seat help some?

I have a corbin seat and I don't think it would help you. I found that the Corbin seat puts your butt about 1.5" back farther, but mine is more slippery then stock. When riding solo I still prefer the stock seat.

I'll have to see if my friends is a low model then I'll try that seat on mine.

Since the way the Corbin seat is shaped I also found it less comfortable to grab the tank with my knees when riding agressively.

Don't know about the works shock length, I'd be happy to take some measurements for you to compare with yours when I get home from work tonight. 10:30ish, mountain time.

If you would that'd be great. I measured from one bolt to the other and it was just under 17 inches, I suppose the longer the shock the lower it sits. I'll try finding a not so stiff shock coil.

Wrong bike, but I really prefer the stock saddle on the X1 for working the twisties solo.

Is easy to transfer weight left, right, fore and aft for maximum control.

Everything else I have tried locks me into a position that is great for high mileage but severely limits movement.

Set up for 185lbs, it's just as good as anything else I've ridden - I've got 15" bolt to bolt. Inseam is just over 32". With stock seat I was not able to put both feet flat. Hope this helps

er, measurement taken with the bike on my rear wheel stand - suspension loaded under just the bike's weight.

I have a center stand for my bike and can take a measurement for you in the morning when I get home from work.

It's important to know what shock mount you have. Most 2000 M2's had their stock non-reservoir shock replaced by an updated Showa (with reservoir) that was shorter than the original. This shock update also used a revised shock mount to keep ride height the same.

I'm thinkin the shock/mount may the problem here -- on a Y2K M2, the seat offers a number of diffeent positions, and I've not had a problem sliding up against the tank (except under sever braking events ;-} )

Should I look for a stock shock? I'd hate to do that if I've got a 600 dollar brand new shock. We'll see what works performance says when I can get a hold of them.

Sorry I didn't get the measurement this morning. I will try again tomorrow.

Truth is, I was dead tired. I work 12 hour nights and when I got home it looked like it would take effort to dig out my stand. So I settled for a cold one and fell asleep....

Is there a site with part diagrams to look over stuff and see if I have any other non stock parts in the suspension? It's just so weird that my friends cyclone sits so much differently.

Maybe you could post some pictures here and the "throbing Brain" of badwebbers could see something for you?
