so i just found out today that i have the S3T handle bars (the touring bars). thats no good.
Id like to get something that'll put me more over the tank, but dont want to go as far as clipons right yet, I still ride this almost every day.

So other than the regular S3 bars, what are my options? can I use m2, s1, x1, and xbS bars? will they fit right and me not have issues with the fairing?

Thanks for any help guys

Garrett

look for Rice Paddy on the internet, in columbus OH, I got a pair of the GP bars cause I wanted to get a bit lower and change my hand position, cost me 15 bucks in black, nice bars I like em, I have an 00 M2, so they should fit yours. Not too low but definitely lower and a little more narrow.

or you could go the crossroads route, but that is pricey, but very nice looking similar to clip ons but not as low.

Are S3T bars different from X1 bars?

M2 and S3 (non-touring) bars are the same if I am not mistaken.

Might have some going to ebay shortly....

There are no clipons available for your S3 as any clipon would hit the fairing. You are limited to just standard height and touring height bars. Crossroads are out.

The part numbers for X1, M2, and S3 bars are all different. I don't know the specific differences in the bends on them, if there is any at all. But I do know that an S3 must have the bends JUST SO, otherwise, you get your choice between the control pod hitting the tank, or the lever hitting the fairing, at full lock.

why limit yourself to buell bars? you have standard 7/8 bars, man- heck- ddo the right thing and get superbike bars, your cables will all work with them.
think outside the buell, baby!

I got a number of replies when I posted a wanted parts request for stock M2 bars, there's prolly some standard S3 bars wasting away in several people's garages...

I'm pretty sure Blast bars are the same as S3 bars.

I wonder what the dimensions are on the New XB12X bars are? They look like something I may want to put on my X1.

Does anyone have a set of M2 or X1 bars laying around that they would like to sell?

I figured I would post here since this is the topic of the post

Blast bars are the same as the S3T bars that he already has. He wants regular S3 bars.

Many aftermarket bars won't fit the Buell due to center width. The clamp on a Buell is a little wider than what many bars have, so be aware of that dimension when selecting from aftermarket options.

I do NOT understand these ergonomic limitations. why not rty out some superbike bars before commiting to a buell-made thang?

im limiting myself to buell bars for a couple reasons
1 - money. i can buy some new or used buell bars for cheaper than the others
2 - the fairing. with the s3 fairing there is the issue of possible hitting it with the bars when you go lock to lock.
3 - with the usual bars it'll be laying down quite a bit, not sure if i want that right now or not. i still ride this daily and plan on taking long trips (going to wilmington this wed, a four hour ride), the crossroads style bars seem like they might kill my back after four hours

yeah- that's why i suggested superbikes.
you can get nice drag specialty, etc. no-names VERY cheaply.
they are considerably lower than the S3T, while much higher than drags, and they have nice leverage and they fit in an S3 fairing.
If $ is a concern, have you considered just rotating the S3T back a bit?

When I scored my used S3, the idiot owner had put some kind of travesty "granny bars" like off a moped on it. Diiiiscusting.

I went to my local generic bike parts place (Cycle Gear) and found some typical dirt-bike bars for about $30. I unbolted the crossguard and slapped 'em on, they work GREAT!

That why I went to the above site, I know it says rice paddy but look up the GP bars, I have them on my cyclone and they fit nice, fairly narrow so I could put Barend mirrors on it, comfy ergos don't hit my tank lock to lock but come real close so I bet they wont hit your fairing and cost fifteen bucks-may be more now as I bought them this winter, and you can get them in black or if your feeling like a pimp chrome.

SJH,

I might have a set of M2 bars laying around. Let me know if Jsunstar can't help you.
