Replace throttle body about 4 weeks ago after breaking shaft. Bike ran like crap. Got software from dave at appleton, did the tps, air flow, and dts. bike ran ok for about 30 mniutes then started cutiing out a full throttle above 4 grand. Went back in went thru the process again, ran ok for about 20 minutes then back to the cutting out above 4 grand under full throttle. Checked the intake gaskets, ok. New plugs and wires. what else could it be! An ET sensor? or air intake sensor? It seems like it is running rich. On the old fuel injection there was a small port on the bottom towards the front that looks like some sort of vacumm port, on the new one this port has a rubber cap on it, i can't remember if the old on was capped off or not. should the new one be? Open for ideas?

CAlifornia throttle body...I plugeed mine when i"converted" it to regular emissions....

I'm a computer idiot so the software is kind of a pain, but I do like it. The tps is brand new with the throttle body so I don't think that is it. I'll dig further. I'll pull my O2 sensor and clean it. The IAT is there, I cleaned it off, it was pretty grubby.

Careful with the O2 sensor!
I think it is sensitive to solvents.

Sorry to go off the subject, but is there software and wireing diagram I can use to hook up my bike to my computer and reset things myself? Thanks!

Hey NateX thanks for the heads up, I was gonna use electrical contact cleaner. the same thing I use for other types of engine sensors. Spray it on, blow it off. wceviper, Dave S from appleton Buell has the software program for fuelie buells.

The engine trouble light code, if I'm reading them right said a bad TPS. I took the one off the old throttle body. It seems to run better, took it out for a 6 mile round trip, did ok. I'll let you know after a good long ride. The TPS was brand new with the new throttle body, what are the odds of it being bad? Pulled and cleaned the O2 sensor and cleaned it and also cleaned the airfilter. both were really dirty, I don't know how I missed these before.

Somthing you could check with the O2 sensor is the voltage it sends to the ECM. The ECM should have .45V DC going to the O2 sensor with the Key on Engine off and when hot the O2 sensor should switch between .2 and 1V DC. If it won't go to .2 or goes much over 1.2V it is junk. It also needs to cross .5V at least 10 times per second. At least for cars that is the number of crosscounts I like to see. I also like to look at the waveform with a Labscope but not many non mechanics have one in their toolbox. The ET and IAT sensors are both pretty easy to test. I like to use Voltage instead of resistance testing. You should see a higher voltage at the sensor with colder temps and of course lower with higher temperatures. Max should be reference voltage probably 5V DC and then it better be about 50 below zero. Normal cold engine (or air)at 68 degrees F would be around 2 to 3V at operating temp probably .75 to 1V for the ET. Check your grounds circuits also, mine loosened up a couple weeks ago.

Yes. If your header is loose, the O2 sensor will have a poor ground and therefore will send bad info the the brain.

Already checked the header when I cleaned the o2 sensor. Not really sure what I did. I think maybe the new tps that came with the new throttle body was bad, but it is back in fine form now. thanks for the advice everyone.I'm a happy rider again.
