First of all I want to thank all of you for your help the many times before.

Here's the scoop. I am replacing the fairing bracket on my s3t. I bought one from a guy who said it was from the same make and year.

When I went to put it on the bike, the new one is about three inches shorter on the risers/gauge dash supports. I am stumped, because in the owners manual, it shows the one that I just bought.

The only thing I can think of is to weld the old risers to the new bracket. Has this happened to anyone of you before?

Also, where do I find the rubber boot that goes around a stock mirror on an s3t? Mine got mangled in the slide that caused the bent old bracket.

Thanks for the help

Hmm the dash was changed from 98 to 99 but I have not heard that the "spider"/mount was changed.

the parts manual shows one that looks like the new one?

DaveS can hopefully identify the correct part numbers for you. It would be good to know what part number fits what year S3's for future reference.

My fairing mount was mangled when I got my bike but after much tweaking I managed to get it straight again. It took a LOT of trial and error to get it to where the fairing cleared the both the headlight and the handlebars at full lock in both positions.

Yes, the front faring mount was changed, 97 was a one off year, due to only having 2 gauges, 98 and on had a clock, with the early S3 did not
If you have a 98 S3, and atempt to install the 97 bracket, everything but the dash lines up, however like you mentioned, its shorter
Sorry, but your looking for the later bracket
If you need pics, just ask, i can explain a bit more if you like or show you the difference
