Ijust bought an 02 X1 with the pcIII. My HP laptop doesn't have the 9 pin connections. Just 15pin and the larger printer connection and usb's. What are my options?


from idle to about 2500rpms the bike runs like pure crap. with partial throttle I can't even take off in 1st gear unless I have the rpms above 2000. Can't even pull up my road/hill in 2nd at slight thottle. Can't really afford the 250 for a dyno tune.. So I need to learn how to do this myself.

xb stage 2 heads, andrews n8 cam, force intake and exhaust with baffle, pc3 and hipo 02 sensor.

yes I know I bought a freakin speed demon. Yet I like to just put around and make noise every so often. Not concerned with max power just driveablity.

There are USB to serial adaptors that give you a 9 pin serial "com x" (usually com 1). Try the office boxes or the gadget boxes for that, they are about 50$
As an alternative if you have a card slot you can get a port card from B&B electronics that will likely be expensive. 150$ + that will work with all but the oldest doss stuff.
YMMV


The PC3 program looks like a windows application you "should" be able to use it with either of these assign the port in the device manager or its driver, and use it in the software.

On playing with the pc3 check their webb site
see if a map for a similar setup exists.

Caution you may be able to lean it out too far and cause problems if you are not careful.
The pc3 alters pulse to injector timing to both
lean and richen the mixture as desired.
I suggest that you
1. consider a TPS-zero and checking the sensors
2. save the original settings the may be correct
3. make small steps and go slow watching for trouble signs excessive leaning. The software is easy to use but other than speed, throttle position and the map not much else is available.

I don't know about the N8s' or about the head work sounds like its a hot rod to me,
it may not like low revs.
If you know who did the heads may be they can be of assistance.

As an alternative you may be able to score some stock lightning cams those are nice, the motor is drivable with good punch if you are not going to ride around at WOT they are a good choice
you might be able to trade out with a other badwebber on those.

"USB to serial adaptors that give you a 9 pin serial" I tried the one I had. My laptop couldn't find the driver for it... Its what I used for cars OBD2 scanning.

TPS zero. is that something I can do?
I had planned on everything else Ol Dog suggested. Even the idea of swapping cams.

Ok connection problem solved.

Does any body have files for bigger cams?

also why doesn't the files that PowerCommander gives out - they all show zeros for 1000rpms and 1500rpms untill 40% throttle. I like to start off from a stop with as little throttle as possible then increase as needed. Right now the bike stall/hickups if I attempt to do a slower take off.

The bike will also hickup below 3000rpms if I go from low throttle to higher thottle. It just a few quick hickups the off I go!

I can't afford the 250.00 for a dyno tune! So I sure am greatfull for the help.}

Are you running the 02 sensor with the PC III?

yes, I using the high per. 02 sensor. also using the baffle in the force pipe.

The PC maps:
A) are not perfect for every listed combo - usually close , but manufacturing tolerances in engines, EFI systems and the PC itself mean the same mods on your bike might require a different map than your buddy's bike w/the exact same mods.

B) The PC maps available for download from the Power Commander site for Buells have no adjustments made to the closed loop area of the map if they simply end in a series of numerals. If you have the DJ-O2 sensor load the appropriate map with an 'S' at the end of the name. This will include adjustments to the closed loop section of the map...however you still may find your map needs more tweaking in the lower throttle position/rpm ranges (I don't know of any with fueling added at 1000 -1500 rpm from the web site).

I think that you said Nallin stage 2 heads
check with them they sell the pc3 and offer tuning service they may have a base map to work from.
On ocasion my bike farts too
I havent figured that out

I looked at the maps too
I am just guessing but maybe the the PC guys figured out that fuel may not be needed
The map I run actualy has fuel removed at points
on the curve.

I am using their 803.015 map don't have access to a load control dyno with the sniffer
your idea about using an O2 monitor (Sniffer)
is intresting, the race box may be worth a try
IF it works ok then you could sell the PC3
American Sport Bike and Daves have the box its just under 200$

If you find out about the cams please post I am curious too. I like the stock lightning cams
you can go easy or hard the bike does not care

is it possible that there may be other issues
timing or inlet air leak behind the throttle plate?

the cylinder head temp sensor being out of whack
can mess things up it may be "working" but off

but I am just speculating
as I re read your post the symptom sounds a little like a temp sensor

here's the poop
theres' a table in the fsm
@50f the resistance is 93,759 Ohms
@77f the resistance is 41,295 Ohms
@104f the resistance is 25647 Ohms
the fsm says that the values are +/- 20%
check and re seat the grey plug on the ecm and
the bullet connector over the rear head be careful of the wire
