Author Message   Cereal Posted on Saturday, April 16, 2005 - 04:28 pm:        Has anyone else had trouble with their mechanical speedometer? I took the speedo and tach off to paint the bezel black, put them back on, and then the speedo went crazy. It bounced back and forth for a couple of seconds, then slowly buried the needle clockwise and would not go back to zero. I opened it up and found that the spring broke off and became wrapped around the shaft. I am scared of putting the new one on until I know what caused this to happen. At $160 a pop, I’d rather not experiment. I checked the cable and everything looks fine. Since I don’t believe in coincidence, the only thing I can think of is that it was probably dropped.
