If I remember correctly the Brough Superior is the bike that ole Larry of Arabia was killed on.

Yep that is what he was killed on. A member of the local antique motorcycle club has four of those Broughs. They are another sharp Brit bike. Until about a year ago I had never seen one in person. I went to a local meet and this guy had four. Gotta love those old brit bikes, the styling and attention to details were great.

XB being collectible in a few yrs. Why not, what makes an S-1 so much more special? I remember when Kawasaki KZ 900 and 100,Honda CB750, Yamaha XS 650 Twin were all just street bikes. Now they they are considered collectible. What about Hona CBX 1000 and Honda V-65 Sabre. Try finding a nice 84 V-65 sabre. Who knows for sure what will be collectible, I never thought these bikes would now be considered collectible. If I had I would have kept some of them that I owned.

Lets face it the XB9S is a revolutionary bike in design as well as performance. Why shouldn't be a collectors item.

Back in the 60's who would have thought a CL72, a CL77 (Honda 250 and 305 scramblers) Would ever show up on the collection block.

The CB72 and CB77 (Hawk and Super Hawk) are sort after. And then there was the 175 cc Honda Benly Racer another sort after dream.

I agree that in future years collectors of American muscle bikes will be looking for XB9S. We won't be sitting something like a Stativarious violin, but collector will be looking for them.

Geez, I didn't even think about those little bikes. I saw a CL72 sell for $2000.oo recently. I personally can't see it, but everyone has their passion.

Who cares really? At the rate I'm going by the time my bike is as old as Tripper's I'll have way to many miles for a collector to be interested in it. I bought it to ride, and ride is what I do, every day.

about ten years ago, my father bought a 1965 HD Electra Glide. first year of it, first year of electric start. tell me thats not a collectable. anyhow, restored it perfectly, and has since put over 100K miles on it. sure, its due for another resto, but he build these old bikes, some over 60 years old, and rides them. that is what ALL motorcycles were made for.

If you are thinking of keeping a bike or getting a bike for collectability then keep it 100% stock and original and keep 100% of all service receipts and oil changes and gas receipts for top dollar. Also keep all the original documentation including the sales receipt and warranty paperwork. And any parts that need replacing over the years keep the old parts as well, including the first set of old tires off of it. Collectors tend to be nit pickers, correct and original, so don't so much as even change out the mirrors.
Just an observation.
Now ask yourself how many Buells come close to the above parameters? ; )

The pages on this site are loaded with gorgeous older Buells just ready to be ridden hard and then, like a thoroughbred, cooled down, cleaned up and but away until the next ride.

The local biker shop is having their 33rd annual bike drags. It is mostly Harley stuff. I haven't been in a few yrs. I'm going to see a couple of local Buell guys run. If I can ever figure out how to resize pic's I"ll post some.

sounds to cool, a lot of the Buell riders around here go to a local dragstrip (Speedworld) and run on a weekly basis. Some of the guys run in the high 10's, 11's. It appears the guys who are newer to the drag light thing get into the 12's with no problem. It is quite a show.
