I cut down the cover on the bike. I started with a fairly thick carbide/fiber zizz wheel in a die grinder, and it was PAINFULLY slow. I then switched to a very thin wheel, which removed a lot less metal, and the cutting went a lot faster. There are LOTS of ribs in that part, and getting all the way thru them is a pain in the toosh. Once roughed off with the zizz wheel and a hacksaw blade, I did the rest with a carbide grinding bit in the die grinder. I was AMAZED how well a hand held tool like that could chunk away serious aluminum fast (even in places you don't want to...BE CAREFUL!). Final clean up was with drum sanding wheels folllowed by scotch-bright drums in the die grinder. It took about 10 hours total to do the entire thing on the bike. But it's worth it, I like the look, it provided a place to put the catch can that wouldn't have fit there otherwise, and shows off the braided lines better. I think I need to replace the CF pully cover with something that matches the lines better, though.
