Boy, that sure is a nice scoot. Looks a little too cluttered.I prefer the minimalist look of an S1W. Get a load of that seat, all you need now is a set of rear sets.
Just joking around!

Hey Bomber,

I've been thinking about taking my beltguard/inner fender off like you've done. Is there a downside to doing this? Does a lot more crap make it under the seat? Also, does you leg heat up without the heatshield?

I guess I can put in a plug here. If anyone wants some rearsets like the ones on the pictured
"cluttered bike" Time is running out. Please see my post on the Quick Board.

Thanks.

DJ

there ARE belt guards there, bud . . .there shop made aluminum, black so they'd disappear (I guess it works!)

I made an aluminum panel (painted black) that follows the curve of the oil bag up and runs along the lower frame rails , , , (cut a 3" diameter hole to allow access the seat screw) . . . keeps most of the crub off the oil bag et al . . . .. ohm, and I also glued some thin rubber sheeting to the back (about inner tube thickness, from the hardware store) to cushion the oil bag from any flying rocks and stuff . . . .I extend the rubber sheet past the edge of the aluminum enough so that is hangs down below the upper edge of the swigarm, to keep road grunge from that area as well . . . . let me know if you want firuther info . . .none of the pics i've taken show it very well (block on black on black)

and, nossir, I've noticed no discomfort form the lack of the heatshield

Bad . . . .everyone knows polished aluminum fishnets are better . . . .sheeesh

I went away for a day or so and remembered that yes, Rocketperp does have a wacky sense about him.
I remember that’s why I liked him to start with. So my hackles are down now.
I like clean thank you very much : )

My S1W has 36,426 miles on it. New to me in 1998 with less than 100 miles on the odo. I ride her hard every chance I get. Then I clean her and so the next time we are ready I know exactly where she is. I have 7 bike show trophys. Not a 1st place among them becasue the judges all say I have too many battle scars from riding my bike...a real world museum piece thank you very much sir
I like rearsets too. Some might call them poseur but..for me...they get my COG down and makes me comfortable. At 6' and 240 in full gear I carry a lot of weight in my shoulders and chest so getting down with the cross roads bars and up and back with my feet lets me get around corners without dragging and grinding boots pegs and assorted bike parts. I just hate touching down when I ride..gives me the whillies.
I did have to use spacers to get the bars up a little to ease my neck.

keep it up Rocketperp..I just ask that you respect others efforts even if its not your taste. pal.

36,426 MILES!!

OK it's a mobile museum piece <grin>

No criticism of any bikes, just observations based on personal taste. Donn, that bike is too damn black but it is a cool bike.

Rear-sets. I'd like rear sets too - but I've not seen any in years that I liked that much. I recall the LSL ones from Germany, that i remember liking. trouble is, they all tend to look like meccano. I totally agree about foot scraping. It's a pain when you're that far over.

Donn....I'm liking the risers for the Crossroads bars. I may have to look into something like that. Because it could be an easily removable piece, it would be nice for those times when I need to ride some distance to my twisties.

I also see you powdercoated the front motor mount. I've never seen it done before. I thought I may have had an original idea. Oh well.

Dennis what were some of your ideas for a space filler ? if you use spacers, I got those from Ace Hardware, Pls make sure that the replacement longer bolts you use are high grade. I'm using grade 8 ss polished from stainless specialties.
Not sure the factory grade is but the increased leverage made me wonder about breaking regular ss bolts. October last year I flipped the bike, broke off the gas tank and bent one of the bars.
I was lucky that I had the other side bar from a previous low side off last year : (

Your powder coat mtr mount idea is original to you. You thought of it so if you like it do it !
I'm sure not the first person with a Buell to do that.
One great thing about powder cost is that is incredibly durable and shiny all the time. no polishing just a wipe and looks new again. Post pics when you are done pls.

Rocket -- yessir . . .. it's the launch area at Festung Rosberg . . . . that there's my all weather pursuit mount

stock handle bar bolts are grade 5 steel . . .. not a bad idea to upgrade them to SS in any event, as the stockers start corroding after a good long run in the rain, and eventually gall the hell outa the holes they live in

Seeu I am impressed! Very interesting. Performance is good? Looks like there isn't much air inlet. I like it but it wouldnt really go with the look I am aiming for.. I always wondered how the airtech stuff really was. I love naked don't get me wrong but I have seen lots of pics of fully faired S1's in the Airtech body work that just really move me. I would love to score the kit for a super deal some day.. I remember a black one in perticular, it had a stretched swing arm I believe as it was a race bike. Awesome. I still think we need to come up with a new intake system..

Dougnut: Whoa there. 2 Carbs! How'd you do that? Are those Tilley heads or something? I've been dying to find a way to put a carb on the left side.

Just do a search on dual carbs on the site here, there's been a bunch of discussion on dual carb options and issues. I've still got a spare carb sitting in a box someplace waiting for me to maybe do something with it.

Not sure how to get in touch with them but Shumaker originally worked with Tilley on the dual carb setups..
