Did you experiment with different discs, do as the mfgr. sugested, or did some one dial it in on a dyno using different nubers of discs? - I can find stuff on the SuperTrapp, but none on the WB, except in dirt circles - lol - just cuious - the bike's sweet, by the way!

EZ,
I bought the bike with it's current set-up, but it wasn't running right when I got it home. Turned out to be the timing sensor in the nosecone. I replaced that and we put it on the Dyno last Saturday to get the timing and jetting dialed in, we found it runs good at 18 discs. I could add more and possibly gain some top end HP, but I would give up some torque. Right now I like the torque curve, it's high and flat across the top so I'm going to leave the discs at 18. I'm planning on going back on the dyno tomorrow. I made a few adjustments this week because it was still a little fat in the mid range. Hopefully that will be gone now.

Ken,
Thanks! Today was a total hoot up in the mountains.

I personally much prefer the S1's to look minimal. Timbo's looks right to me. Toro's hybrid looks a little cluttered. Not a criticism, each to their own and all that, but I don't like the right side heat shield nor the cut down rear hugger and the ham can is reversed making it look more ugly than normal.

Other dislikes of mine include the rear sets. Looks like meccano to me. Do I need to mention the seat?

Wow is that thing clean. Plenty of calluses on them there fingers me thinks.

Agree with the uncluttered look. I mean, the worst thing you could do is stick a X1 chin fairing on it! ; )

I like your S1W Rocket,
I have always liked it, and it bums me that it has given you so much grief. From what I can figure, you still have it and are putting it back together. Any chance I'll ever hear a ride report from you on it?

Rocket....that's part of the problem with the S1. Once you start making the bike perform/handle better, things start to get cluttered.

I'm trying to find ways to improve the look of my S1W White Lightning. I love the minimal look but hate the frame flex. Fixed that with a Banke frame brace.

Now add a set of Crossroads bars and you need a steering damper. I'm also running a single coil ignition that doesn't fit well under the frame.

All of the sudden my beautiful minimalistic bike is cluttered. I'm hoping that some powder coat will help to make the frame brace look more integrated.

I'll post some pics once it's finally done. I'm sitting on a perfectly good X1W chin fairing that may or may not get added. If it doesn't go on the S1, it'll find a home on my S3T.

Blasterd,
Yep, clear shot to the rear and side. I really like them set up this way. This is the third bike I've owned with them set up this way, and I have become quite used to it. Works great.

Timbo, that's a distinct possibility!

Lake, I can't say I ever noticed the frame flexing. I always thought the rear suspension was to damn hard without enough compliance over bumpy roads, that's all. Saying that, I had the brace welded in when the frame was plated but I'd done about 4500 miles on two S1W's by that time.

I can't comment on the Crossroads bars necessitating the use of a steering damper but I believe head shake is more prevalent on S1's where the riders weight is on the light side of 170lbs or so.

I run single fire HI4E and the coil is mounted normal.

Good luck,

Rocket

Lake_bueller I know what you mean about frame flex. It happens under hard braking. It can be enough to have the front engine mount bolt dent the oil filter ! not dimple...dent. The banke vrace made the hard braking flex go away entirely. The crossroad bars put more of my weight on the front end and meant I had to reset my front and rear shock settings for better bike balance. I added spacers to raise the bar height another 1" and that took away my high speed head shake. pay close attention to wheel balance too.

The Banke frame brace on my s1wl is powder coated and it blends in nicely. here's a old pic I've done some other stuff since then but this works for me.

Banke may still make rearsets for S1's. The ones they stopped making was for the M2 and S3.

Seeu, I just realized the pic of the S1W with coated covers was yours. Fantastic! I need the frame brace still. I was thinking about just permenantly installing a frame support myself before coating it next winter.
Can you show the right side? I'd like to see what your running for the air filter setup.

Rocket, you know I love your 'fighter! What do you got going for the air breather setup? Do you have pics of that side as well? or atleast what your running?

I am considering swapping up. I have the Yo'Dude Performance intake kit. Its pretty much a copy of the Forcewinder. Im just a little tired of the looks. I am interested in looking into one of the hamcan type breather systems but instead I was thinking the ones of the round circular type.

Fuscat, I've got the race kit ham can. I'm tired of the looks after all these years. Want to swop? Those Force \ Yo'Dude set-ups look the best - always did. Don't go the round way, they look old fashioned and pretty boring

Thanks for pointing that out Dana. I'm well aware of its origin. Looking closer, something I didn't do before because that poor bikes been bastardized so bad I would be in tears, I realize it's that awful shield thing going on covering the battery that made me think the ham can was facing the wrong way. I do apologize for being such a goof head but no apology for making me look again!!

Dana, dont worry about the Rocketperp...he's got some kinda Cecil complex going lately.
The only person that matters is you. Your bike (well it was) your money your taste. fuck the rest. I think it is good work well done, with passion.
