That West Port bar can be one wild ride. Sometimes you can get out but not back in. And you should see some of the tidal rips in Puget Sound, enough current to almost water ski while anchored. Fun stuff. | ||

Mike, Seymore Narrows, whirlpools forty feet across. In 1979 on a trip to AK we entered the Narrows between a couple of tugs, each pulling tandem tows. Never do that. My boat didn't have enough power to overcome the whirlpools and we would be slung sideways nearly against a barge full of containers. I tried to take some 8mm film of the event but had to abandon the camera and steer for our lives. The Seymore Narrows are at the north end of Vancouver Isl., where the Straits of Georgia pinch down from approx. 26 miles across to approx. 1/4 mile. Since the tide changes twice daily all that water has to exit through the Narrows. Its wild. Paul | ||

NATE!!! Watch out, the jetty, NATE!!! CRASH. Kliney was able to back off the jetty, and made it into the harbor where we had the travel lift ready to haul him out. He had a large gaping hole in the bow and several thousand gallons of water flooded into the forepeak and enging room. We saved the boat, made repairs and returned the Kandy Dawn to service in less than a week.  | ||

The St Louis Area Buellers got together to transform Mariabelen's Blast. (I was practicing my Sr Non Commissioned Officer duties :) John let me take his Thunderbolt sporting the "new" shock out for a ride. Score A+! We then headed out for a burger and beer.  Josh making the fender removal look easy and John working on the tail section.
