I'm 6' 2", but my torso is long and legs short so my legs fit no problem  It is a small bike, but that's what I like about it. Hopefully I'll get some "action shots" when the weather warms up (only 10 degrees today). Need to get rid of the back tire  | ||

Noticed you have both lights on in pic. How did you rewire to have both on for highbeam? Boiler Up! | ||

It's pretty easy, needs to swap the wires. Here is the link with pics very straight forward. It took about 15 minutes for me to get it done. When you flip to high-beam, both lights will be on. http://www.buelletinboard.com/forums/showthread.ph p?t=810 | ||

Is the Uly flyscreen a direct replace with no modifications for a stock 12ss flyscreen? | ||

No. Have to drill four 1/4" holes on the Uly flyscreen using stock 12ss as the template. Since they have different curve, I had to be very careful - drill one at a time and measure and re-measure twice. Personally I think it has much better look and suppose to provide better wind protection (haven't have a chance to test ride after got it done back in January). | ||

Out and about the Seattle area today with a photo op on Lake Washington with a view of the I-90 floating bridge. Buell neck warmer worked as advertised. Low 50's out there so not so cold on this day's 65 mile ride. The XB went over the 12k mile mark.  AND, I didn't test the bar end or axle sliders this time! I'd like to take credit for fabbing something up, but it really was as simple as just searching out Hepco and Becker's US distributors. They make the Uly luggage sets, and also happen to make brackets that fit the regular XBS subframe too. (provided your cheese grater is still in good shape). The brackets fit any H&B bags too, so i picked up a set of used Uly bags from a fellow badwebber. all told, the luggage set cost less than $500. Not bad for hard bags. The only drawbacks are that the brackets are really meant to be pretty permanent, and you have to take off your passenger pegs and lengthen your rear signal wires in order to mount them. An integrated tail light could save you a fair amount of hassle with the wiring work, as there isn't much slack to work with there. Also, the rear cross-member that bolts to the two bag-mounting-brackets and the cheese grater that was a real PIA to get mounted up. I stripped out three allen-head wrenches on four bolts that I believe should have been hex-head bolts to begin with. Overall though, im pretty happy with them. SOOOOO much better than the stock soft bags, and i can fit a heck of a lot of groceries in those bags! | ||

looks like your spending to much time on the strait and narrow highways there. you need to find some curves there coops. good deal on the bags. looks a little odd but i'm sure having that much storage is what it's all about. and i would have tried the same thing on my cyclone if i didn't already have soft bags that work out fine for me. the m2 bags hold just about as much as the uly bags do. | ||

I think I've been spending too much time on advrider and talking with my buddy (Wee Strom owner). We've decided it's time to go for a real trip this summer, and the soft bags just wouldn't cut it. They hardly hold tools, a tire patch kit, and a change of clothes. Cut me some slack on the tire already!! It's winter and that thing has almost 10k on it! You are right though. I promised myself I'd start using some of those 35+ vaca days i've got saved up this year... Deal's Gap is on my to do list! | ||

Thanks Wolf. I've thought about it, but I'll probably just leave them stock for now. They'd never quite match the airbox and flyscreen, and it would probably bug me a little every time I saw it. |
