Looks like a V-Strom to me, not very nice looking, IMHO.

Lornce...all the changes to the appearance of my bike were either cheaper than stock, parts removed, or parts cut down! So...it didn't cost much. But I did it the opposite...I have the show...but now need the go!

Spidey...that's really ugly...but in a good way!

That sport touring XB is really ugly in a bad way

...and that Guzzi is simply gorgeous

Hey Spidey...Some eyebrows, a little hair, big nose with a mustache and some teeth on the bottom clamp ought to complete the look!!!

Just kidding. Can't wait to see pics of the finished project as I want to do the double-eye trick to my X1.

Lornce,

I don't hate winter anymore - on New Years Day it was almost 70 in this part of North Carolina (Too bad all the freakin' roads are flat and straight though). If it weren't for the rain I would've rode all day. When I was home to Wisconsin for Christmas it was pretty mild as well. I guess I will be in for my winter shock when I leave for Berlin, Germany for two weeks again next Saturday.

1313, where are you in NC? I'm in the Winston-Salem area and if you want to come this way some time, I'll show you some really nice roads.

1313,

I'm green buddy, I'm just green. With envy, not inexperience....

Heck, if I could have 70 and saltless in January I'd be happy with the occasional on/off ramp....

12" of heavy wet snow today (which actually makes caging fun) and an evening at a bike show in Toronto.... Only Buell in sight was a Blast.... Treated myself to a new HJC FG12 Crevier replica helmet.... for the coming track season.... SNELL 2000 approved and oh so comfy.... and such youthful graphics.... sheesh...

Discovered the vintage race club guys are gonna' bottle out on the plans for a Period 4 race class.... Which WOULD have made my GSX-R 7/11 front line hardware again.... Dammit!

I coulda' bin a contendah.... No, really.... :)

I really hate winter,

Hell yeah! It's been on it for about a month now. It's not the prettiest thing but gives the bike some personality. They seem to look better on Ducs and Buells, though. For some reason they don't look quite right on most Jap bikes, IMHO. I guess it looks best on narrower, stubby machines. Maybe you should streetfighterize the tail section, too?

I like the old air-oil cooled Gixxers best.

I'll have some pictures up whenever I get this film developed.

Perhaps that'd look neat, but I'm happy to just keep it running strong and riding it whenever I can....

Dyna,

Yes, you are right. I did it. It's a V-Strom on top and an XB on the bottom.

It's on my website in Amsterdam, Holland.

What P.S.I. do VW's run for oil pressure? That'd be the only real concern...as automotive bypass valves run a higher pressure release. Then again...your filter would have to be completely plugged up to ever activate it.

Rick,

\blue"That'd be the only real concern...as automotive bypass valves run a higher pressure release."} Bypass valves open when the filter media gets clogged due to the excessive pressure drop accross the filter media. The operating pressure is not a factor as long as it is within the normal realm of Buells or automobiles (20-60 psi). Check out the Knowledge Vault, Lubrication topic archives if you are interested in the details. After all this is the pics page. :]

So here's a cool pic of some fool lusting over a new XB9S.

When you only have 7-20 PSI at lower revs, seems to me a 60 PSI bypass valve would be a bad idea, that's all. Sorry for gettin' off topic

Rick,

The bypass valve is actuated not by the absolute pressure but by the pressure differential across the filter media. If the inlet side is at 60 psi with the outlet at 55 psi, versus if the inlet were at 20 psi with the outlet at 15 psi; the valve doesn't know the difference; both scenarios present a pressure of 5 psi across the valve. That is the pressure that actuates the valve. The bypass valve is there to protect the filter media from getting ruptured, blown out by excess pressure across the inlet and outlet sides of the filter. Please see the archives here and read through the next couple archived pages too. Interesting stuff.
