Josè, yes, that's a nice one of you all leaned over, but Joe's is almost art.

Thanks for the info. - I'll make a note of it.

Peter, Love the Bull Terrier, not in the same way but great dog nun the less. Im working with a 5 month 50+ pound Pit-Rott mix now, not to mention the 97M2. Like your rides,

Ed,
If it loses the psychoness of the Pit and gets the brains of the Rotty, that should be one hell of a dog.

I guess that lower fairing must not provide that much of an advantage. It looks much meaner without.

I think it's time I gave my Laconia (Loudon) report. I just happen to be up there during bike week visiting the in-laws.

I had to chuckle at the post about the db meter at Loudon. There were A LOT of drag pipes running around, I'm sure the meter exploded on the first day. Despite the on and off rain all week you could hear that rolling thunder day and night.

We went down to Meredith Harley Davidson to look around and among the attractions (Buell apparel 50% off) there was a Rent a Harley tent. I made arrangements to pick up a NightTrain later in the day. On my return I discovered that the NightTrain hadn't made it back so the rental dude asked me if I wanted another ride. I looked around and picked the Heritage Softail Classic (it was the only one without white walls, I do have my standards). After a safety run down I took to the road. One of the local guys asked me, as I was pulling out, if the bike was running (stock exhaust) haha.

Don't worry I behaved myself, didn't even drag a floorboard. Took awhile to get used to the heel toe shifting, now that was a positive shift, CLUNK. The bike only had about 1500 miles on it. Later I popped off the windshield (that easy) for the wind in the face. Strange feeling riding a bike that big, somehow you didn't feel as vulnerable as on a sport bike. It actually handled pretty good for being so large.

Later I gave my wife a ride on it, she thought it was comfy. While we were sitting at a light waiting to turn left another biker pulled up next to us (sans helmet, No helmet law in New Hampshire). There we were full face helmets, red leather jackets, gloves and he asked, "Are you guys sure you're on the right bike?" Hahah.

I was contemplating extending the rental but the weather looked like it was closing in so I took my wife back to the house and headed back to the rental place. As I pulled in I saw it. The V-Rod, just sitting there. Seems the guy canceled because of the weather. The proprietor asked me if I would like to take it out. The clouds parted, a ray of sunshine came down and illuminated the bike and I heard a chorus........

Now that was my kind-a-Harley. I like the smooth, stealth like power delivery. Nice brakes too. I don't know if it is something you can get used to but after a couple of hours in the cruiser mode (arms stretched and feet forward). It was time to take it back. It's difficult to maintain a fast pace in that position (maybe that's why they're called cruisers?).

Looking at the picture I could see why my wife didn't want to take a ride on it. I think the rear perch on the X1 is bigger. Even my petite frame makes the V-Rod look small.

vrod

That is all.

I see 'em as simply more expense/repairs after a crash...and I looove that exposed CF ram air/cooling duct. Gorgeous.

I am not sure about this, but the exhaust is pointing upward on that #4 firebolt and you can see carbon deposits on the swingarm. I understand that it is probably that way for clearance reasons but wouldn't that make the oil temperature rise?

Went for a little two day, 700 mile ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I think they built this road for our Buells.

How Ray spent the first day of Summer:

A wonderful 200 mile loop around Mt. Rainier in Washington state
First day of summer
Reflection Lake. There really is water under the ice and snow.

Most of the trip looked more like this:

Andy needs insurance; insure him would ya? That would assure his desire for continued participation in things hooligan. I sure would like to ensure that.

Why is Wood's bike missing the frame slider on the left side?

Iiweeldman...all the Firebolts running what apparently is the Buell racekit have the same upturned exhaust. I wouldn't think it would cause a sizeable change in oil temp...otherwise they surely wouldn't use it.

The upturned exhaust on the XB looks like it is to pass over top of the belly pan. Pointing out in the stock position, the belly pan would need a cutout and wouldn't be able to contain fluid. Another thing for me to worry about when my pan comes in...
