Hey Daniel,

Yep, you got it. The Blast is a race bike, the RR is a retired race bike/collectible, and the RS is a low mileage collectible that's currently sitting in a museum.

The S3 *was* streetable, until I took it apart.

Psst ... anyone want to buy an S3 roller? (i.e., no engine).

Actually, I have a stock engine I could slap into it, and sell it as a running bike. I'm debating whether to do that, sell it as a roller, or sell it for parts.

skulley,
Great bike! I see you are using the force air cleaner. Are you also using the power commander or just the race ECM?

Regards,

Brad, nice job,The cut down cam cover is another thing they should have done right from the factory. It would have helped set the engine and Buells apart from the Sportsters.

Donn,
Thanks for the compliment. Part of the current look is due to your "parts donation".

Jim, I agree. I couldn't believe how much metal you can cut off the stock cam cover. I think it really sets of the right side of the motor.

Job: S3's have come stock with t-storm heads and the 2.5" collector header since '98.

M2's & X1's have come stock with them since '99.

Also, '98 S1W's came with them.

Aaron,

You are very much correct about the Domestic homologation version of the Buell's we all love, but Job is from the Netherlands (I believe - based on his E-mail address). The HDI (i.e. International) homologation versions of these bikes did not always have these components that us in the U.S. have come to expect. My memory fails me on what all was different on the HDI bikes, but most of the Thunderstorm HDI Buells had 2" exhaust.

Oh, I didn't think to look at where he's from, silly me. Cool, another Dutch Bueller! You are, of course, absolutely correct ...

Well you are correct, I'm from holland and we do have other rules over here....But in belgium, switserland and Germany its even worse, they have a so called TUV, wich means that you can not/ may not change anything on your bike! You may only mount parts that are TUV aproved! each second year they call you back to check these things! then the bike has to be the same as he was the day it got the papers! I have build a chopper once, did everything myself and build it with parts I collected trough the years, then I had it tested by the gouverment, they have a list where your bike is going to be tested on, for example you may not have more then 84 decibel!!! well with a Shovel thats hard!!! Anyway the test toke a day and at the and you have to pay tax and they give you the papers!

I know what you mean about the TUV, Job. A friend of mine from Germany bought an FXDX like mine and couldn't do any engine mods either. Everything had to be factory approved parts if you made a change or substitute. I'm not sure if he put the K&N filter in though. They were even strict as hell about the chassis, including placement of foot pegs. I hear they will quarantine the bike and it can't leave until it is brought back to original specs. It doesn't seem to affect those who fly their bikes over for a trip though. Needless to say, he begged to ride mine the whole week he was here.

A buddy of mine lives near Munich, and when he tried to get his Yamaha Radian through TUV, they actually made him install a clear plexiglass cover over the license plate illumination bulb (it lacked one). Scary stuff!

Hey Anonymous,

Ease up, maybe that's the tackle he's using to catch something that smells like fish. How about a pic of all the tricked out work on your ride? Put up or shut up .

I like the bass boat X-1, it took a lot of sack to do that to his X-1. If only it had a spinnerbait hangin from the rear.

Oh wow that S1 is awesome!

Oh yeah - Hi, I'm new to posting here, although I've been coming to this board for like 2 or 3 months now - this site rocks ! ! !

I'm Tony from Southern California.

(I like that 'bass boat' paint on that X1 also - I've seen that before and it looks bitchen!)

Peter, your shock is drooping.

But seriously. Can any tube framed Buell be considered truly custom with a stock cam cover? How did that get left intact?
