Well, it looks like it'll be easier to do a valve adjustment.
DOT is probably going to want to see at least a countershaft sprocket cover.
Personally, I think it looks like the result of a drunkin' evening between an 1125 and a Sportster.

Long live the tuber!

With those sprockets, I wonder what the top end is?

Roland should turn that into a Bagger so it could be raced in the MotoAmerica Bagger series.

Part of me is screaming, "Blasphemy!!!" But the rest of me is really liking it.

A set of Hepco & Becker 30L Junior bags and maybe a more comfortable seat and and it would be a fun Sport-Tourer.

I'd like to see a spec sheet on it. And how much are they asking?

Proof that Erik has absolutely NOTHING to do with the company that now bears his name.

The frame looks a lot like the FXR frame that Erik designed; which has been acknowledged as one of the best handling Harley Big Twins produced.

I'm looking at it as a bike that the MoFoCo could have produced if they didn't have their corporate heads up their nether regions.

This is what the V rod should have been.

No; it's not Erik's bike, but it's using many of his ideas and I bet it will eat V rods for breakfast. And it just might devour Indian FTRs for desert.

I will say that I'm surprised that a bike using many of the advances that Erik developed is getting such little interest on what was once the leading Buell Enthusiast's Forum.

I guess the latest buffoonery in Washington is more exciting.

I like it. I have too many bikes in need currently. Curiously though, I wonder about the structural integrity of the upper shock mount. This used to be big discussion when tubers attempted to run XB? swingarms?

I’ve seen several different horsepower numbers posted for this. Buell lists 175 HP on their website, which is 10 HP less than the SX and RX.

They could have changed the cam profiles to increase torque at the expense of a little horsepower, which might be better for a cruiser. OTOH they may have just reduced the maximum RPM to possibly increase the valve adjustment interval, which is kind of crazy low (~6200 miles) on previous 1190’s. Based on this dyno chart, the 1190 hits 175 HP at “only” 9500:RPM, 2000 RPM less than peak. That might make a big difference in the valve adjustment interval.

Hugh, the difference might be that the engine doesn't have a correctly sized airbox to feed it they way the 1125R and 1190R motorcycles manage due to having the airbox where the tank would normally be. Sands placed a fuel tank in that spot, so there doesn't appear to be anywhere else to mount the proper sized airbox.

I think it's cool. I like it a whole lot more than the Super Touring Bike they are building. Will for sure be a fast cruiser. I'd add some bags of course. Overall, were I to come into a big pile of money, I'd put one in the stable.

Overall I like it…
Two complaints is the huge gap in the rear tire to fender, I know that suspension has to move but bearing able to see completely through just looks wrong…
And that bright silver radiator, looks like an infected toenail it stands out so much. Anodize the rad and fork claps gold to match the chain!

Better than I expected, a lot of "Buell" components.

I suspect that it rides well, and if tuned for cruise it would still be a hand full.

Realistically in to days world it might sell pretty well.

I wish that they would support my 1125R
the legacy support for my X1 and my 1125R will only get more costly as time goes on.

I like it a lot. I have not said that in a long while!
The little bit of feedback I've seen so far tells me that it's very likely to be vehemently attacked by the Buell haters, just like what happened in the past. This results in the simple minded masses flocking to jump on the hater bandwagon, unfortunately. We've all seen it before. Of course, this might all be averted with a carefully targeted advertising campaign and a lot of support from the faithful. Oh, and obviously they will need an extensive dealer network, an irresistible price tag and warranty.
Good luck to them.

Probably some kind of hump so they can use the tank filler cap door and locks that they have a pallet of from the 1190s.

Since there's no features and specs available, and you can't tell because it's a black bike, I'm gonna spitball the following:

I suspect that the airbox extends up into where the gas tank is and the gas tank is actually smaller capacity than it appears to the casual observer. And 'that hump' probably is an offshoot of all of that.

I keep wondering about the logo: It's just Arial Bold font. It looks like nobody ever thought of making it look attractive or cool. The position of it on this bike also looks strange to me... Maybe it comes off easily? The bike would look a lot better without it. But then the other models would too. Just my $0.02. otherwise cool bike!

I keep trying to decide what I think...Some critics say it can't truly be a Buell because it seems to abandon the "Trilogy of Tech", ( chassis rigidity ,mass centralization, low un-sprung weight).

In a published statement a couple years back, Erik himself said in the end its just a name, and time will tell what the new iteration of the company will actually stand for.
If this bike makes it to production, it gives Buell Motorcycles a model for buyers outside of traditional Buell customers. That's something they desperately need, because I don't see too many people on Badweb or other forums posting their new 2020 and up model purchases.

The Trilogy of Tech criticism has yet to be determined. The chassis rigidity jury is still out, but the low un-sprung weight might still be there. This bike appears to use the same EBR swingarm, and wheels and brakes introduced by Buell motorcycles on the XB/9 and X/12 models of 2003, and continuing on through the EBR brand models.

It's the mass centralization tenet that appears to have been compromised. Buell's tagline at one time was " Different In Every Sense". Style-wise here we have a bike that appears to say "Only a Little Different"

At a claimed 450lbs., its 200lbs. too light to be a KOB series bike, but its much easier to make a bike heavier than it is lighter. I could definitely see a race team, factory or otherwise making the necessary mods to make it competitive. Alternatively I could see Buell throwing some aftermarket high mounted baby bags and mini batwing fairing on it and market the bike like Dodge did the Challenger Hellcat.

Picture a print ad slogan, "So fast, we're not allowed on the track.".

It's not a race bike and I hope it never will be. It's a cruiser bike. It looks like it could be every cruiser bike rider's dream come true.
This recent press release is for the purpose of gauging interest for potential marketing. If they decide to proceed, the bike will change some before the initial final product is actually offered, I'm sure. There's no way of knowing what those changes might be or what those changes will do to the market's opinion and interest in the bike.
This is the first time I have been at all excited in the prospect of a new bike coming out in a decade or more.
