...or, Patches, if you want to actualy LEARN something, listen to the interview posted in another thread. Erik himself talking about why he did what he did, what happened to the V-Rod motor (as I said earlier, HD got hold of the Revo motor, added "Harley" cosmetics like un-needed cooling fins, and the center-mount coolant pipe to allow the V-twin to "be seen", added a bunch of chrome....and over 100lbs to the engine), why he used the XL motors...maybe learn some actual facts before you run your mouth next time? |

Who cares Ratbuell there's plenty of Old Harleys out there to keep me happy. You see I'm smart enough to rebuilding the Old Ones, been doing it sense I was 14yo in 77'.
If Harley-Davidson was footin the bill(handing out "Free Money"), don't it make sense they would have wanted to make Harley-Davidson look good. Instead of "Bitchin & Complaining" about how Harley-Davidson isn't smart enough to Design and Build a Real Motorcycle. To me that just a Really, really Bad, bad business practice. Especially if your trying to get a New Motor Co. off the ground. Right.

I’ve bought 3 2022 cars . . . 2 gas and 1 electric. Also ditched a 2 year old Porsche and traded a Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit for the electric.

I don't know if Court lives in an urban area, or if he left NYC, An electric auto for around town may be the way to go, Me my IC car is paid for since day one and has many years of service left to give me, so a shiny new tesla is off the table.
The green raw deal is part of the speudo science / cult of chicken littles, Face it the climate changes all by it's self. With real clean electricity from say [ Thorium Nuclear ] we can stop burning petrol and use it for better things like composites, rubber, and the like.
Electric cars offer blistering performance in a lot of cases, just not so much range.
Besides the infrastructure is not fully in place every where.
My question / concern is about re-cycling the spent batteries rare earths can be rather toxic and as the name implies amounts are limited.
The new HD offerings are way long over due
and imo may be too late, the young have less coin for bikes....
and HD's are some of the most expensive bikes sold here state side.

I absolutely agree about the concerns with the batteries, the range and the charging of the electric cars.
We bought the E Tron primarily as a day-to-day SUV to go to and from the barn. Anytime we have to go any further I would never venture out in an electric. We do a lot of long… Over 2000 mile road trips… And frankly the electrics ain’t there yet.
One thing you can say about them it is fun to put your foot in the thing and wash the 9/11 fade in the rearview mirror. |

Thanks Court its been a long tough week
Another concern, on of my street one of my neighbors is an early adopter of E-cars.
He has had the Volt, and has a pearl white Tesla,[lust] I noticed that recently he started charging it OUTSIDE, I would also do so as the LARGE high energy batteries in those cars
IF they ever let go its typically catastrophic, even if it is 1 in 500 thousand.
E-cars may be coming,
Men Like Elon Musk, Erik Buell, and C.L."Kelly" Johnson are truly amazing folks you have to wonder what's next. |

I must say . . . in a world where few think twice about paying $115,000 for an SUV . . . I still like my old 1960 MGA.
I have the fondest memories of those days when "if it had fuel, spark and compression . . it ran". May run poorly . . but it ran.
The MG . . . . replete with Lucas Electrics . . . is fun and I'd not think twice about driving it from NY to LA.

If you mean the early ones…yeah, they had a really short wheelbase. Later cars like mine were stretched about 4.5”. It’s easy to see when comparing the doors.
