Hey all- I'm curious to know more about these platforms and such, what's called the "gig economy." Turns out that maybe some of the peeps we see glommed onto their phones are actually being productive and making $$$ via these services... some fulltime, some making bankable simoleons. Some are even traveling to visit friends in other states, cities and gigging for moolah. What say ye? For my marketing and sociological mind, I'm damn curious. Might start putting junk in Jane's trunk... why not? I've said it before and again, you guys here are all pretty fart smellers, so throw out your $.02 here. Thanks! |

Brad, I used Insta-cart I cant say about earnings but the service was excellent and timely I made it a point to tip 10% or so of the groceries bill. If our local stores weren't so sucky I would still be using them. |

Thanks for the input. I find it a very interesting trend, this shop-by-proxy thing. Our new "normal" way of living seems to have gotten so dang busy, we can hire gophers. (Heck, as long as I can bury my money, I'll be one, if I'm paid well.) Still wanting, needing to study on these new business models. So... "local stores being sucky"? Do you mean the goods selection that the gophers must go through? My local retailers have about everything... it just depends on the price you want to pay. Maybe I can suss out a FB page or discussion board similar to BW (?) that might shed some light for me. |

Update bump... still researching, found out that Shipt requires you have a vehicle that is a 1997 model year or newer. Of course, MY truck is a 1990 GMC stepside, and my hopes for using my PC800 stopped at the number 1996, which is the model year for Jane... dammit. I've long wanted to try making $$$ with a motorcycle food delivery/production service of some sort. RD's trailer build certainly gets my imagination going on that tangent... if I could acquire something like a Uni-Go trailer and set it up with the Honda, well... I could certainly handle the rest. The rules for roadside food production/food safety according to TN health department rules would have to be addressed. Yee and ha. I'm just tired of working for "the man", I guess. You'd think my imagination would have pooted out a good idea for money by now... oh well. Still going to look into this Shipt and other services. In all reality, I wouldn't mind trading my single cab GMC stepside for a long-bed king cab metric truck, if I could find a good one for decent $. M's brother has a pretty decent old Mazda B3000 king cab, I helped him pick it out. I do miss my old Nissan king-cab 4 banger too. Gots my noodle canoodling here in old Mur-vil. Surprised here that only Oldog has thrown in two pennies. Kinda atypical here... I guess all anyone wants to talk anymore about is politics. |
