... listening to NPR's interview with him as I type! GREAT interview, and it was mentioned that Willem Dafoe is in the film!!! On HBOMax tomorrow! RIGHT up my alley, LOVE films like this... apparently one of the 10 best films of 2021 according to someone. Getting popcorn soon!

The interview itself is fascinating. What a mind... LOVE me some Guillermo!!! : )

I just wish he’d make a movie of H.P. Lovecraft’s “At the Mountains of Madness” like he’s been suggesting for years.

+1 on that, Hugh! At any rate, I've been wanting to revisit "No Country for Old Men" for a while now... maybe. That movie was very powerful, but dang bleak. Loved "The Shape Of Water". He's done several visually stunning movies... in the neighborhood of Tim Burton, IMHO, but more subtle.

This new movie is being marketed as a film noir... Hugh, have you seen "The Grifters"? A personal fave. Wrote a final exam paper on that one. Gots John and Joan Cusack, Annette Bening, and Anjelica Huston! What a ride. Also, a new fave is "The Cooler". Almost a noir film, but... wow what an ending! Check that one out too!

I haven’t seen that one; I’ll check it out some time.

Did you see del Toro’s series “the Strain” on FX? It was sort of a mashup of vampires and the zombie apocalypse; he co-wrote the novelization too. Both were great.
