I've gotta wait until Tuesday to see how it runs. It didn't come with the battery or charger it was supposed to.

It's a little bigger than I expected.

The Rustler next to the kid's car. Same scale, but different sizes.

The Rustler is pretty bad A. It's fast enough to round our little course in a fast and drama free fashion, and handles well enough to be fairly competent yet a lot of fun. I think it's my favorite RC car yet, and is easily the fastest on our track...much to my kid's dismay

Also, the T-28 ended up in a flight with some swallows. We went back and forth playfully chasing eachother. It was pretty amazing.

I've also been successfully flying it without stabilization, which also has been amazing. I did my first barrel roll today. I'm still trying to get the ailerons mechanically trimmed...which has been a bit of a hassle.

The other day I broke both cars and the helicopter.

The Traxxas landed very crooked on the back end and ripped a screw out of the gear case. I through bolted it and it should be good.

The WLToys broke one of the upgraded axles. I guess I'll be buying higher spec ones next time.

The helicopter had the motor come loose. It was black siliconed in so a proper zip tie was used.

I tried to get my girl to run one of my cars, but she complained that I'd yell at her...so I found this.

It's the same as my 4WD car only brushed, in a truck style, and with spares.

It looks nice

It was on sale for $99.

The GF has a car.
20220827_124602 by Slick_Rick77, on Flickr

It's kinda slow, and based on a shorter wheelbase version of my buggy with a big brushed motor.

It worked pretty well and was straight out of the box, only the motor was missing the cooling fan and it ran hot as heck. A Traxxas Titan motor is on the way. It should do 40mph plus, thusly equipped.
20220827_120134 by Slick_Rick77, on Flickr

My Rustler is under repair as the wheelie bar mount/rear guard keeps catching on the ramp. The gearbox it was meant to protect has a crack because of it. My brushless buggy is out of spare axles. One failed catastrophically recently.

I was offered one of these for review. I could not pass that up.

I'm giving it to the boy when I'm done with it. It's not what he wanted, but it's the same basic architecture as the car he liked and the buggy and truck we already have.

That one goes 30mph on 2S and 40 on 3S, but the motor will burn out quickly, reportedly.

RC cars are awesome. I have a Traxxas Slash Ultimate with the Traxxas funny car motor in it. It is loads of fun to drift it around the local high school parking lot (until they decided to put solar up in the parking lot.) IIRC the top speed is somewhere around 45 MPH, possibly 50. I broke something last year. This thread makes me want to get it running again.

However the most fun hands down is a my racing drone. Unfortunately, the ECM burnt up and a local shop got it running again but it is not as "smooth" as when it came from the factory. It was flyable but then I ran into another gremlin that grounded it. I really should look into seeing if someone can fix it.

There's always something going wrong with the cars.

The ESC just burnt in the girlfriend's. Her older kid's car broke an axle and the rear diff has locked on its own. The 2nd differential just ate itself in my 1/12th car. The Rustler has the upper shock mounting screws coming loose continually.

The GF's younger kid complains that his car handles poorly and her older one is ready for a faster car. Upgrading them both would cost $150. Buying new cars is $200.

I'll probably get the younger one this one

And the older one this guy

The former is 1/16th which is kinda small...but the kid has control issues shd runs into stuff. The lighter cars tend to handle that better. The prices are reasonable despite immense popularity.

The latter is getting rave reviews, but the prices are quite inflated on it lately. They'll both do 25mph...which I feel is good for intermediate drivers.

I'll probably put a Traxxas motor and ESC in the girlfriend's car...which means a radio upgrade...and it should see around 45mph.

The new 1/14th. It looks good. It's relatively fast (actually faster than my Rustler in a straight line, surprisingly), and the suspension is pretty decent for a budget car.

I just won an RC car from Continental Tires; who had a display at the Springfield Mile. I think I'll use it to terrorize the local kids. (More likely; it'll attract them).

I know nothing about RC cars and really couldn't give two Sh**s about them; but I'm excited because I never win any kind of raffle or lottery.

This seems like a good place to share that.

*******************************************

I just looked at the certificate. It's a Continental Remote Controlled Stadium Super Truck.

They're going to mail it to me.

If it's the stadium super trucks I think they are...they're pretty nice 1/14th cars. Usually do around 30 and a pretty durable chassis. Three of our cars are based on that style of chassis. A little small, but suitable for very short grass, prepared dirt trails, and fine gravel. They jump pretty good, but I wouldn't be sending them to the moon. They're tough, but heavy by modern standards.

In the brushed versions they seem to hold up pretty well. My brushless car is tough on axles, keeps blowing rear differentials, and it's so powerful that the front wheels are often floating off the ground under acceleration.

The GF's car burnt the ESC.
20220901_230208 by Slick_Rick77, on Flickr

A new one is on the way.

It also turns out that she doesn't want to go faster...so I guess that as a compromise I'm putting the higher rated buggy motor in her monster truck...which is good for better acceleration and should be good for a 30% plus top speed increase.

A collage of the aircraft. RIP F-22
20220225_082013 by Slick_Rick77, on Flickr

The Wltoys car needs a driveshaft.

The monster truck got sent another bad motor and Rlaarlo ignored me for a proper replacement so I bought an upgrade motor elsewhere.

I'm going to mod the Rustler suspension some so that the upper shock screws stop coming loose.

It's always a bummer when a vehicle goes down

That HBX 901A is on the way. I also got a Flyhal FC600 coming instead of the HBX 16889A Pro. It's a less expensive car with a simplified rear suspension. Other than that and having a truggy body, they're the same. Instead of a double wishbone, it has a simple link up top...but the inner pivot point is in a much better location to maintain proper geometry throughout the suspension stroke.

In frustration of unsuccessful brushed motor upgrades, I decided to go brushless on the girlfriend's monster truck. She should end up with the fastest car in the house. My 4th fastest car in a straight line dominates the track due to its superior handling paired with my preferred driving style...I.E. flying through corners with controlled abandon.

Now I've just gotta get my own car fixed again and we'll be alright.

The little guy is cute. The bigger one is actually pretty impressive.

The little one does around 25 and with a pinion gear swap the big guy should do close to 30.

The kid's smaller RC ran as expected. The other kid's car exceeded expectations. That thing is legitimately awesome. It's my 2nd favorite amongst all of our cars.

Walmart had this on their website on sale. $59 with one 1500mAh batt. $74 with two 2200mAh batteries.

I mixed and matched parts to make it a more suitable offroad car and converted my old car to an onroader.

The new one is brushed and slower but is more stable, controllable, and durable. I plan on whooping everyone with it.

The other car makes a shockingly good road car. The handling is very rally car esque.
