"RD, your last post was #777 on this thread! Lucky number for the lucky thread!"

He's known for things like that. Oh and that bike is BADASS. Met a guy who has a Royal Enfield at home in Colombia. And an '84 GL1200. Remind me to tell you about that sometime. He really likes the RE, it is nicely farkled.

RD, that bike is looking dang awesome already. I'm auguring heavily towards the get-together in October- one of the many reasons is to check out your new bike!

Keep at it, farkle-king. ; )

Hidden farkle is an extra 1/2 gallon of fuel in two tubes with MSR cans inside hidden by the panniers.

Installed a 5.5" Garmin Zumo XT. I was going to put it on Lil Red if I didn't get the Himalayan. I'm just hooked on great GPS systems since the early days when they cost $3,500.00 and just read out numbers. At over $500 the tightwad part of me was screaming when I hit the buy it now button.

I have a tire pressure monitoring system for a motorcycle. I have tapped into the turn signal fuse for my GPS. I am hesitant to add another aftermarket circuit for now. I'll be leaving it on the shelf for now. I did pick up a new maintainer for the himalayan so that Lil Red doesn't have to share. I got a NOCO GB1.

My next job is to start getting my camping gear sorted for next week-end in West Virginia.

Crusty has a two man military tent that he used for years. I decided to get a one man made by the same people. It has covered area outside both doors for gear and the interior footprint of the tent is 3.5 feet by 8 feet. I can sit up in it. 7.5 pounds, but I'm carrying it on a bike not my back. I have the big box I used for a tail-box on Lil Red. Plan on letting it bridge the gap from the tops of the panniers. I don't want to hard mount it on the tail. It's wide enough on top to carry my solar panels. CPAP guy but believe in camping silent. I do not plan on a loud pipe. I've not been able to settle on a name for this bike yet.

Here is how I haul the big top box. I have the solar panels folded and laying on top, but not tied down.

Very Nice! Good looking setup! I stored tools in one agri-tube, and fuel in the other on the Uly.

I picked up this Pure Water unit for $35 and have made 5 gallons of distilled water for coffee so far. I am figuring $1 per gallon that I'm saving. 30 more gallons and it has paid for itself. If you want a shock, look up retail for this one.

Now I need a cartoon word bubble with "MATE!" in it for the squach to be saying. I may make it by hand so I get the right shape and size for my space. There will be no white background in my bubble and "MATE!" will be in black.

Yow! That last post would indicate a fair amount of razor work for the sticker, no?

Looking very good my friend! The final result with this bike will be uber-kewel. Guess I better pop more corn...

Put a tire pressure monitor on it today. I wired it so that the clock starts at 00:00 whenever I start it. If I forget to hit the stopwatch, I will still know how long I've been rolling. 3 hours in the saddle is easy. A quick splash of fuel and I can go another 3 hours. I have 7 gallons on board. Get about 60 MPG highway. About 420 till empty.

I am loading the himalayan for the 500+ mile run to Two's next week. I am twisted by the weather forecast. Could be cold (40s) in the dark hours. That is when I leave. I have been contemplating wearing one of my Buell ADV suits. I have never tried them in the rain. They are very bulky. I will most likely wear layers under my JoeRocket mesh with a rain liner in it. A pair of ADV pants with a rain liner. Some NEOS over-boots and a pair of Columbia Convert mittens in case. I try to keep the load light, but struggle with stuff I think I want to take. I keep taking stuff back out of the load. 24 torqs climbing hills keeps me wanting to lessen the load. I will still splurge on bedding though. I like a big down comforter more than a bag. Well I should get back to sorting out how I'll be making coffee and such. I've settled on a book (Moby Dick) because The book I wanted to read probably wont be here by then (The Myth of Mental Illness : Foundations of a Theory of Personal Conduct
by Thomas Szasz). Time

I plan on riding straight through to Two's. My first 500+ mile run on the himalayan. I have did a 350+ ride so far. I'm trying to stay below 10 kilos per bag and a 7 gallon fuel load. My current mileage puts me less than 4 pounds of fuel short of not needing a gas station.

I ordered a European style fog light with an F1 type function. It came in today and I cut the housing off it and made my own. Here it is as a lower 2nd brake light / tail light with strobe function.
