Get recommendations and references before you leap. Foot repairs are delicate and take a long time to fully heal (heel?). My wife has had surgery on both feet, and it is a long row to hoe. Good Luck, Brad! |

You want to have a walker handy, and arrange the furniture etc. so you can navigate while impaired by boots/casts. Cooperate and listen to the Physical Therapists. ( I always get the most lovely ladies ) And be careful of the pain meds. It's really easy to get stupid and addicted, and to double dose. I highly recommend having a notepad with the drugs and religiously write down every pill & time. That way, 15 minutes or an hour after you took a pill, when you are still hurting but in the fog forgot you already dosed, you won't just take another and spend the rest of the day sleeping to Youtube videos. It's a catch 22, you want/need some pain relief so you can move around, and keep up the circulation, and get in the important physical therapy. ( mostly stretching and moving so it all doesn't fuse together into a club, and I mean your legs, & whole body, not just a foot ) Pain inhibits healing. Because you hold yourself stiff. OTOH, any decent pain killer is a problem, just because taking them stops the pain. Doesn't have to have physical opiate chemical addiction properties. As a friend who's had Chronic pain for decades told me when he discovered ( Redacted Pain Med ) , "It stills the chorus". When you get a certain age, and have cumulative damage, low level pain is a background. It can be life altering to change that. So balancing pain management and dependency is a highly personal and important thing. After all the scary Doom stuff, Good luck, and hope you get Hot Therapists. My cyborg knees really helped my knee pain. ( cutting them out helps, funny that ) And the recovery takes some time, and a lot of that is your attitude. And kitten memes. |

Yee... Dang, and thanks. "Look before you leap, leap before you look back." A life working on my feet, oh well. Desk job, I shall haz. Or something. I once worked for a skinny restaurant GM, one of my best bosses, and a friend, brother now. He could walk with a cane faster than I could walk. Had a bad knee. He's doing well now. Gotta geterdunn. This and that. |
