I've had trouble getting into Badweb for a while now, but this past weekend was the worst. What happened? I was having some serious worries that it was gone for good.

Is everything better now, or will this happen again?

It’ll happen again. We’ve been warned that we need to get off this software. Maybe we need a new badweb, and have this one locked for new contributions, but still available to view.

The upstream router was replaced and the service provider goofed the settings.

I've been preoccupied looking after Darrell.

Last Thursday afternoon we were out playing fetch/catch and his rear legs gave out.

Vet diagnosis is intervertebral disc disease, the calcification type rather than the herniated disc type.

Grade 3/4 (left rear leg is better than the right).

Prognosis is hopeful recovery with rest, 2-6 weeks.

I’m essentially transport to and fro, plus act as the handler to Darrell as self-guiding wheelbarrow.  Sunday night he marched me through the bushes, but he took his first poo since losing ability to walk on his own.  Michele was celebrating like he’d solved cold fusion.

Thanks for understanding. More later.

Wow Blake
Darrell has been with you for a while
I hope that he recovers and is with you for a while longer.

Do they know what caused the calcification?

Thanks Jim. Yes, Darrell is now 13 years, 4 months old.

Jeff: It's pretty normal for aging mammals, including us humans. So in and of itself not an issue, just causes us to lose flexibility. It's when it grows to a point where it puts pressure on the spine that it becomes a problem.

Don't allow your middle aged and older pets to jump up onto or off of stuff. I couldn't count how many times in the past 5 years Darrell has jumped onto and off of our couch, the truck, and our bed.

He's in excellent health otherwise.

Sorry to hear about your buddy Blake.

Bone spurs growing between vertebra and in other skeletal hinge parts are calcification deposits.

That's why I quit jumping off the couch and truck beds and such.

Tell Darrell he can still ride on a Buell. He just needs to ease on and off and simply avoid riding if he feels too stiff. And tell him to limit his riding distances to fit his comfort levels.

Oh wow, Blake. Critters. We just got done medicating both our old guys. Both for seizures (severe, ! in little one without meds), and lymphoma in the one that does not bark.
We had overdone fish tacos (HER fault, not mine), and dinner went well... dogs enjoyed their "meds". Little one was a royal food taster in a past life, we're convinced. The other, a Hoover vacuum and Fuller Brush man.

M's daughter has a Corgi that they tried one of those wheeled cart thingys... YMMV.

I have no children, but... I kinda do. Good luck, and have a great weekend. Oh, and Vern, I always knew you were a stiff.

Sorry to hear that. We rescued a clumsy hound dog that fell off our bed and suffered a back injury (we're pretty sure she's been chained outside her whole life). She went into convulsions and stopped breathing. I spent fifteen minutes reviving her.

I then spent a couple of weeks carrying her around so she could do her business. She is not a small dog.

I affectionately call her "zombie dog."
