Freedom is largely an illusion. Our most basic freedoms are relatively secure for the time being. Financially and socially there's a myriad of laws rules and regulations we have to abide by every day or face serious consequences. | ||

I think the old system of lords and serfs is slowly returning. How so? Property taxes mean that you never really own your property. You might otherwise retire, but are obliged to work just to pay your property taxes. It is an outrage. FICA (Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid) taxes are exactly how the labor of the people is being confiscated in order to take care of them. America became so great and achieved so disproportionately so much compared to other nations because the American people took care of themselves and each other, and so no taxes to look after them were confiscated from them. Well Said Blake .. it gets tiresome to watch our great country get trashed by "elected officials" whom are clueless - with out scruple and have no fear of being held accountable. I wish that once a citizen reaches a certain age ( say retirement ) property taxes are no longer levied. Won't happen but it would be nice if it did. | ||
