Which British magazine declared the Firebolt as the Best Handling Motorcycle of All Time? I remember listening to Erik describing how the test riders were dragging their elbows in the turns, but I can't remember which magazine it was. This was while the US magazines (controlled by a major Japanese manufacturer) were crying that the XBs had to have a steering damper or else they were unstable. BIKE magazine. Unfortunately I could not find a link to the article, only enthusiast websites - Buell and others - discussing the article. |

Bike. The Firebolt had a full page picture from the front, leaned over & dragging a peg, with the caption "Then we removed the peg feelers and leaned it over more" |

Don't know about elbows, but I've gone through 3 pairs of boots with the outside edges ground off. |

My nephew just brought my old Firebolt up from Texas. I had traded it for a 95 Z28 my little brother had when I got my 1125. She runs well for 57k on the clock but I have no key for the gas cap. Working on several possible solutions. |

I've got CASES and CASES of all the magazines that had Buell related content . . . I am going to try to arrange to find a home for them . . but, the contractor is arriving to start work in June. I'm betting it's in there somewhere. If I see it, I'll snag it. I, too, have been curious. |

FWIW: It's the August 1997 Edition of Bike Magazine. There is one for sale on eBay starting @ 2GBP. Chris C |

FWIW: It's the August 1997 Edition of Bike Magazine. I'm more curious how they knew that about the Firebolt in 1997? https://www.ebay.com/itm/383670458304?hash=item59548a97c0:g:9ScAAOSwIzBfL~yS I dont think thats a Firebolt (Message edited by 34nineteen on May 11, 2021) |

I have another cap and key but I don’t want to destroy it. Pat - it’s a blade key not a cylinder key. Bic pen won’t fit. Z |

Ah! Thanks. My Cyclone has the cylinder. That's the Issue! |

Personally I love my Cyclone's handling. Insert long, bragging, rant here. But I've ridden a new Firebolt, and it was, I reluctantly admit, better. Nearly thought controlled. Really, I'm spoiled. I tried my friend's Honda Shadow 750, and hated it. The engine was fine, ran nice, controllable power, the looks were OK, but the geometry sucked moose #@%&. Ymmv. |

Wasn't the Lightning on the list, also? |

My S1 is a great handling bike, especially after Gold valves and respringing it up front. However, my DR motard requires a lot less effort to hustle around a corner. The Buell feels like work in comparison. I like to say that the DR is the best handling bike imaginable with the absolute worst suspension possible. The suspension is extremely simple, but the long travel makes it forgiving despite cheap components. |

The XB12S Lightning is the only other Buell on the list at #8. |
