I really love my ‘09 Uly.
Getting to be too tall though, if I drop it, I’ll have to call AAA.
Time to get the 1125R back on the road.

I’ll sure miss the low-maintenance part but I can pick Loretta up if I drop her.

Maybe I’ll hit up nephew for my old Firebolt.
I can trade my RS Carbon....

Maybe if you learn how to care for your machinery, you can enjoy them more.

So you are saying if I learn how to care my machinery I can enjoy any piece of crap? Why would I do this if there are another motorcycles on the market do not require "care" to enjoy them more?

It is funny how people consider fixing the shit is a maintenance. It is not the maintenance, it is fixing and repair. The only maintenance is the maintenance described is the user manual, all other stuff is not maintenance, it is repair.

If you will follow Buell XB official maintenance it will not run for too long, period.

There are motorcycles on the market which require only maintenance to keep it running, and Buell does not belong to this category. Buell requires not only maintenance, it requires also regular repair to keep it running properly.

Typehak,

If you dislike Buells so much, why are you on a Buell board? All you do is come across like a jerk.

I haven't had to "repair" my Buell for a very long time and it's 12 years OLD!

The tubers can be problematic, especially when built. You just have to know what to upgrade and watch out for before it's a problem.

The XB series has been much like any other make. The base gasket thing is the worst I've seen from owners I knew.

Everything, with a lot of miles, will be work.

Working at a multi line shop for a while, I always laughed at the Honda motorcycle owners who were sure nothing could possibly go wrong with their motorcycles. Sorry about your luck. Stuff happens.

You want something relatively maintenance free, buy something boring and under stressed that's been around forever...but even then...sometimes manufacturers leave a built in problem unresolved for an entire model run.

I probably should let this lie but.

If you will follow Buell XB official maintenance it will not run for too long, period.

TP your ignorance is breath taking.

I own a tuber and an xb platform (1125r)
the 25 has 22k miles, water pump seal, and clutch weep,( warranty repairs ) beyond that, 1 belt, fork oil, and wheel bearings for repairs. Oh on the bearings I pressure washed the bike ( the OM warns against this ). the belt gravel damage. I have adjusted the valves 2 times, (not to difficult. providing you are not using just a crescent wrench, screwdriver and a rock to do the work.)} and oil and tires they are wear out items.

It seems by your comments contents and tone that you are adverse to repairs and customizing your bikes.

My tuber has not been that reliable but its been hot-rodded, and up until recently I beat on it pretty hard. Oddly though the maintenance and inspections it receives are more complete than my 1125, AND Even thou my tuber requires more maintenance or" fixin' " It's never stranded me too far from home, and on the two times it did one was caused by rock damage to the belt, the second was caused by a brutal wheelie attempt. The Tuber has been on several cross country trips, 2 of which were in excess of 3000 miles.. Would I consider an XB for purchase? Yes in good shape they are reasonably priced and excellent rides.
The xb9 is pretty smooth if all is well.
and no valve adjustments.

tires, oil, coolant, brake fluid, light bulbs, batteries. not bad on my -25.

then again I have a garage and a lift table, numerous tools. I also have some grand memories of friends who have spent weekends in the garage with me "fixin'" our rides.

If all the service you do is in the owners manual you can expect to walk sooner or later, I had a Suzuki that killed its alternator once, and batteries regularly ( worse than my -25) it required routine valve adjustments, chain adjustments, the battery was under the air filter housing which had to be removed to service it.
oh and the 4 carbs had to be synched each time the valves were adjusted. Had I not altered it you could add timing adjustments to the list too.

so from my pov, poo-pooing Buells is just more spewed ignorance, Stick to your radio flyer if you can't use tools...
