Yesterday we lost my friend Jim Halverson. He died of heart failure surrounded by his wife and his two sons.
Jim was a big loud guy and anyone who met him didn't soon forget him.He loved to talk to people about anything and everything.
He loved motorcycles, cars, engines, the military and computers and loved to discuss those subjects,or any other that someone might bring up.
He and I shared a love of reading and he would frequently bring me books that he had picked up at the book sale.
In 2014 when I had emergency surgery he came to see me every day,and over the next year and a half as I was in and out of the hospital
he was always there.Around that same time he started having the health problems that would eventually kill him.

I met Jim in 2000 when I started leading the BRAG ride out of Earl Smalls HD/Buell in Marietta,Georgia.Back then he road a black Cyclone
and if he was in town,he always made the ride. After the demise of Buell and BRAG we continued to ride to the North Georgia Mountains weekly
with a small group of friends, some on Buells, some not.We became close and as a few of us left Metro Atlanta and moved to the Mountains,
we always expected Jim and Michael Hughes, who also road a Cyclone and left us two and a half years ago,to meet us at Riders Hill and TWOS to hang out and ride.
Jim called me one day from the Subaru dealer where he was getting his wife's car serviced and asked what I new about 1125CR's.They had one that had been traded in and he bought it.It was red and loud! When he pulled in TWOS everyone in the parking lot would stop what they were doing to see what was pulling in.
He also bought a KLR and many people here in the mountains knew him as Red KLR Jim.

Our extended group of friends will miss him and I'm saddened that I have one more phone number that I can't use.Rest in peace,my friend Jim Halverson.

Sorry to hear about your friend Jim. My phone too has numbers like that, that aren’t used in the normal way anymore. I do periodically go through my contacts to remember friends and family.

Rest In Peace Jim.

My condolences, Mike. Hate to lose friends like that. In this life, there are only two things certain... ahh, you know already.

For some reason... the name Jim Halverson rings a bell for me. Got any pics of your buddy? In the meantime, next day I/we get to ride, pegs down good buddy.

If I can keep names and faces together I think Jim was the guy that I saw on both his Triumph and a new Moto Guzzi dual sport. I had some great conversations on the porch at TWoS with him. Whether or not it was him I'm still sorry for your loss. It's tough losing a good friend.

My Condolences.

I'm always at a loss about what to say when someone loses a special person from their lives, but you have my support. It really sucks to lose a good friend.

I was saddened to hear of Jim's passing. It's been a tough week. A week ago today I lost my best friend Kevin to a heart attack. We were the same age, we grew up together, lost touch and reconnected 3 years ago. I thankful that we got to have a few more adventures together. I thought it was the start of many more, not the final ones together.

I'm going to miss sitting on the porch of TWOS talking to Jim.

Heart problems...

I've not mentioned this to any outside of my immediate circle(s), but I was admitted late last year for "CHF" and severe edema. At age 53 it appears I've inherited my Dad's heart... he passed at age 56. So, I'm now on 6 meds and have a sleep study coming up soon. When I had my heart cath test done, they found no obstructions, no damage, just a weak muscle and "leaky" mitral valve. And my cardiologist told me coming off the table that I had severe apnea. (Some of youn's know this already.)

Mike, no intention for a highjack, just wondering whom here have experience similar to mine? I've lost all the water weight, feeling great, working fulltime at a strenuous job... but things have definitely changed for me.

After you start using a CPAP and then try a night without it, you will realize how bad it really was. Stinkin' snoring sasquatch. Welcome to better health.

Mike, It's the part of life we hate. Out living friends can get you down. Remember the greatness of time shared. Be happy your friend is not the one sitting in the chair grieving. Work on making others mourn when you pass on. When friends pass, I always know they don't want me sitting around sad.

Eric,I can't begin to understand what you are going through,I only knew Jim for 20 years,we didn't have a lifetime of shared memories like you and Kevin did.Jim and I along with a small group of people bonded over riding Buells in the mountains and a shared love of spending time at Riders Hill,TWO and TWOS.

Greg, the guy you are referring to is Joe Alberts who is one of my closest friends and is the one who spurred me to write the above tribute to Jim.

Brad, stay healthy we don't need to loose your silly ass to a bad ticker or anything else!My dad died at 63 from a massive heart attack. So far neither myself or my siblings have shown any signs of heart issues,we four have enough health problems between us and certainly don't need any more.

Thank you all for your thoughts and concern.
