I give thanks for a singularly beautiful day, taking it easy, smoking a turkey breast and sharing with two neighbors. Greatly thankful for my honey Marcia, my two furkids, and a generally good life. Thankful also for the blessing of my friends, many of whom I count here on BW. Always grateful for the wits, humor, intellects, and spirits of most everyone... grateful even for the ones that leave me scratching my head. Here's dinner: Brined, apple wood smoked turkey breast (3 hour low smoke), mashed potatoes, GB casserole, cranberry relish made with low sugar/stevia, chayote salad, gravy, kinda burnt corn (oops), dinner rolls, and rice pudding for dessert. Smoke gave the bird a nice light pink hue, flavor was... yummytime! (Message edited by 86129squids on November 26, 2020) | ||

I had a fair turkey day. No complaints here. None of my son's made it by, but my house was still full. Up at 8:30 AM. Tom started at 22 pounds and I lost track of potatoes after 5 pounds. Tom got the oven and the taters turned mashed. Guests started arriving and each got temperature checked. I made the announcement that any that wanted to mask should feel free to wear theirs. A couple of elderly and the two police in attendance wore theirs until the table was full of plates of food. The conversation avoided hot topics for the most part, and dealt with what stores would be open tomorrow and who's dog was the biggest brat. Left overs were divvied up and no one stayed too long. I reclined and began the early stages of a food coma. At 6:30 PM I went to bed. Now I am back up for a couple of hours. |
