So that's what happened to Cousin Kevin... we Smallmans are thankfully underrepresented in the headlines, so the fewer of his ilk the better...

Enough political rancor!

Time for the BIG questions in life.

Is a hot dog a sandwich?

Here's a structural view.

No, a hot dog is not a sandwich. A sandwich is something between 2 slices of bread. A hot dog is served on a hot dog bun which is a time of bread roll.

I'm a traditionalist in these matters.

What if you're out of Hot Dog rolls and you put a Frankfurter between two slices of bread? Is that a sandwich?

Sometimes, when I'm out of Hot Dog Rolls, I'll break a frankfurter in half and put the two halves side by side on a Hamburger bun. Is that a sandwich, or is it even a hot dog?

And how important is it, anyway? It still tastes good.

Why is it important? Identitarianism Demands Conformity to The Narrative. Without labels how can we tax it? Without labels how do you divide & inspire hatred?

And if a hard shell taco breaks at the bend, is it then a sandwich? Topological logic says yes.

I could go with the old Jesuit Intent & Action definitions of Sin. While a one piece bun is geometrically a taco, if it tears it may become a sandwich but if it was cut in twain deliberately, it was never a taco and is born a sandwich.

If pressed, though, I'd go with either topology, ( hot dog is taco ... Cube Rule ) or reluctantly, tax code, ( stuff in bread taxable no matter geometry ) but ultimately I prefer Inclusiveness. ( hot dog is sandwich, but also it's own category. Sausage on a bun is subset of hot dog and historically older, but popularity gives name )

As a metaphor to the politics of our time, it's a decent one.

https://www.spiked-online.com/2020/11/06/the-real- resistance/

The massive fury over the " defection" of blacks and Hispanics who went off the reservation of conformity & didn't vote as told, is both racist and theocratic. The folk who aren't Of The Body ( obedient to the Will of Landru ) are heretics, apostates, traitors! Or Uncle Tom, White Supremacist, and other labels.

In hot dogs and politics, I aspire to arch Heretic status. ( and on a low carb diet, I skip the bread altogether! )

Speaking of hot dogs, where did the fallacy about the belief of not putting ketchup on a hot dog come from?

I don't know the Ketchup thing. I'm Libertarian on condiments.

At InRange tv, the argument is "a hot dog is a sandwich. If the bread is in 2 parts, a regular sandwich, if one part, an open face sandwich."

Deep. ; )

Ketchup is not for hot dogs. It exists only as a baked on coating across the top of my meat loaf.

Dogs need mustard.

When I was a kid, I liked ketchup on hot dogs. Now, I prefer mustard and sweet pickle relish. If you're eating it, put whatever the hell you want on it. It's your food, your taste buds and your choice!

I mean it's not like those idiots in Kalifornica who put pineapple on a freakin' pizza! They're really ****ed in the head!

A Chicago style dog is my favorite now.
All the trimmings of a good cheeseburger on a dog. Mmmmm onions and tomato...

Wikipedia says - The canonical recipe[1] does not include ketchup, and there is a widely shared, strong opinion among many Chicagoans and aficionados that ketchup is unacceptable.[14][15][16][17][18] A number of Chicago hot dog vendors do not offer ketchup as a condiment.[19]

Ok, here is the final and correct word on the subject.

Hot dogs - fresh bun, spicy brown mustard and dill relish.

Polish sausage - fresh bun, spice brown mustard, sauerkraut and fresh chopped onion on the top. God's gift to my taste buds....

Pineapple is delicious but has no place on a pizza.

Ketchup is for uncircumcised barbarians

I'm agnostic about Mobil 1

My favorite hot dog.

Preferably with spicy mustard & fresh chopped onion, but when doing no-bun fake keto dieting, I use multiple dipping sauces, ketchup, mustard, BBQ, blue cheese, whatever strikes my palate as good at the time.

I have sent coolers full of these to Rochester escapees from Georgia to SoCal. Syracuse has it's own home town Favs, and other cities as well. If you love the local stuff because you grew up with it or like me liked the new flavors in a new town, it's all good.

If you want pineapple on pizza, get it with ham or spam. It's the Italian (American)/Hawaiian fusion. Actually pretty good, but I'm more a Pepperoni/Italian Sausage/Onion guy. I'm blessed by multiple good local pizza, of several different crust & sauce types. Also several horrid places.

There are lots of "heretical" fusion foods in the land. Some I don't care for, sushi tacos? but others are just wonderful.

Personally, when told "It's an Abomination to eat X with Y!!!", I want to try it.

( This is absolutely a good subject for this thread. American Food is from everywhere, like us. )

My favorite sandwich is peanut butter and bacon. On toasted rye. ( it needs to be robust to hold up with the grease ) Or if you want a full Elvis, add banana. It's best with hot bacon, so eat over a plate, so the bacon grease & peanut butter drippings can be scooped up with a finger and the plate cleaned ( oh, you will )... and area kept from disaster levels of mess.

Special occasion only these days.

A Elvis sandwich - peanut butter and bananas is really pretty good.

Spam and Velveta works good too.

https://www.breitbart.com/education/2020/11/12/ibr am-x-kendi-term-legal-vote-is-functionally-racist/

A dedicated salesmen for Critical Lie Theory shows how racist he is.

He names several phrases that he claims are really racist. And, since he's really really racist, they DO mean racist things. To racists like him.

There's a built in deliberate attitude here. To pick one, "welfare queen", I'd agree, many racists have used that term, ( As have folk without a racist thought in their lives ) But only people like him and his spiritual brothers in the Klan assign a skin color. Everyone else is talking about Klan Party Policy Failures. Legislation written and passed by the Klan Party ostensibly to help, but cleverly designed to discourage marriage and family beyond Mom, Children, State.

The one that peeves Me, is "personal responsibility". That is the air raid siren, ( not a dog whistle no one else can hear ) of blatant disbelief that people of a certain color are capable of ... Anything not spoon fed them.

Screw your racist bile, Gruppenfuhrer Kendi.

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/11/jason _whitlock_brilliantly_explains_how_white_liberals_ keep_blacks_subordinate_and_dependent_on_democrats .html

By defining your existence by a single Word, you also Limit your existence to a single thought.

It Can Be a handy shortcut. "I'm a biker" might be enough in a specific context. Like discussions on traffic and enforcement. If you're an advocate of lane splitting, or opposed, that self definition can inform others of your qualification or bias.

But...

As a Mandatory demand of Identity this is remarkably similar to the centuries of the Slave Owning Culture ( European buying black Africans from Arabs in the post Columbus age mainly ) that used skin color as the defining Identity to excuse brutal exploitation by force and murder.

Don't misunderstand. If you chose to define yourself by skin color or ancestry or inherited characteristics, that is fine. But if that's the Only thing you use, you have bigger problems.

That skips the mental illness problem some few have where they lie about their selves. ( those ladies who lied about being black & became college teachers or a NAACP leader ) and isn't a slam on the many black Americans ( and elsewhere ) that "passed" to overcome racism. ( I'd feel no need to conform to racist rules either )

I think that if you are just one thing, ( after you grow up and experience more life, anyway... ) you are unnecessarily limiting yourself. Children doing so is understandable. And adults often label themselves for Reasons. "I'm a Fighter Pilot!" or " I'm Irish! It's March 17! "

Being labeled by others, however...

Opponents of the Left are regularly denounced as belonging to the “far right.” But what is called the “far right” in the current political environment is a will o’ the wisp, a false construct serving the interests of the demagogic impulse associated with the left, for there is no temporizing with the left’s totalitarian basis no matter how moderate it may appear in some of its presumably acceptable forms.

Social Justice means the opposite. Social Credit is Satan's wet dream.

Scary, if a majority of college kids are happy to silence The Enemy by any means necessary and The Enemy is defined as anyone their Communist Priests Professors tell them are Racist... Aka You, then that's not even a baby step to Justified Anything.

While fools complain that a paper mask is oppression, ( not entirely untrue, depending on Your Masters ) I've been watching for the Mandatory Covid Tracking App. A second by second record of movement, purchases, words uttered, words overheard, heart rate, respiration, what you watch on tv, when you sleep.

It's science fiction? You carry a lie detector that can analyze your reaction to a commercial, the news, the Pronouncements of The President Presumptive... And Inform The Governor's Mental Health Officers.

Today, this morning, you can Post "Trump's not Racist" and get banned from multiple social connections. Next Month? You could say "Trump's not Racist" to your empty back yard and find your life frozen.

It's real now in China, Joe's Sponsor.

"Truth" is immaterial now.

Since, according to the Left, you can make it into whatever suits your needs at the time. It is no longer absolute - it is subjective. "Your truth". "My truth". "His truth".

Kinda loses the definition of the term "truth"...
