Who here knows what about Bulova's Accutron line of watches from say, the 1960's? I've got my dad's watch, which has not worked for some many years... he took it to the "jeweler" at JC Penny and they returned it to him in worse shape than he brought it to them. I don't think he ever tried to fix it again.    I found THIS guy online, and the website says he bought ALL the old Bulova parts from the Accutron line, and shows a lot of restoration pictures... but none of the models are like this one. I sent him an email, we'll see what he has to say. But while we're waiting for that, let's poke the BadWeB braintrust to see what spills out. | ||

Mike, thanks for that. I just sent them an email with pictures, and will start a dialogue with them. The website I linked claims to have all the old-new parts stock, and there's a lot of information on his admittedly rudimentary website. Methinks his watchsmithery outweigheth his websmithery.. | ||

Here's a take down of a Bulova Accutron: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duRzuL8FqQg Some simple things you can do yourself: -Check and clean battery contacts from grease. Change battery if needed. Others things you may want to leave to a jeweler: -Remove dried up grease from inner parts and reapply grease. Chances are your dad's watch needs a good cleaning and regreasing. | ||

Yeah... I'll be paying somebody to do all that. My hands aren't quite that steady, but it was fun to watch and gave me a hopeful attitude about what is to come. | ||

Pwnzor, thanks for this post, it shook loose an old memory. My Grandfather gave me a Bulova watch for my grade school graduation in 1964. I cracked up family members at the time when I remarked (innocently) this must be pretty good because it's a Bull of a watch. I still have it somewhere, I will have to go on a search, having relocated umpteen times it is buried in a moving box someplace. | ||

Redwing, go find that watch so we can see it! I just heard from Barbara at oldfathertime, she said my dad's watch was made in 1969. Stay tuned for more info, I think I am probably going to send the watch to them for evaluation. | ||

Loves me some Guy Clark... great song. I've got my old Seiko that my grandfather gave me, stupidly destroyed it and the faceted bezel when I lost a footrace, tripped, fell. Me •••••••. Keep us posted here on the progress! Heck, I've got a couple of old Swatch watches I'd like to get running... |
